Help! I've got 2 blue puppies plus 2 normal ones Hello to you all! I've read (sorry if my english is not perfect-I'm from Portugal) your posts and I have a terrible doubt if my 2 puppies are 'the true blue ones'.???? I am in suffering very much , woried, and I don't know if I go for euthanasia...I feel like cry. Please take a look at the photos and help me, I don't know what to do... They have 6 days and seem very healthy so far. Both parents and grandparents are normal color, as well as their 2 brothers as you can see in the photos, all 4 males. pups They look blue/gray, but why worry..they are what they are...I would allow them to grow up and deal with any problems later..they may never have any problems and be perfectly fine. Please do not put them down..if worse comes to worse and there is a problem, you can get vet advise...I am a bit like Scarlett O"Hara..I will think about it tomorrow...because everything looks just fine today! LOL |
My humble opinion is: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! As long as the pups are healthy and someone is willing to give them good and loving homes, I don't see the problem. As we all know, when you get a pet you aren't guaranteed the amount of time you will be blessed with it anyway or the fact that later on down the line it will develop health problems. It's a chance we are all willing to take with our babies. It wouldn't bother me a bit to care for one of those puppies, sooner or later we will all probably face heartache because we live so much longer than our pets as a rule. I say, take care of them and find them good homes where they won't be bred. Windy |
Blue or Grey yorkies? Thank you Pat and Sophie, I gess nothing is certain in our future... For now, I will let them grow and hope to find that perfect home for them if possible. But you know, nowone wants trouble plus expenses whith their pet, its going to be a difficult task, even if I give them instead off seling, I won't cheet and I will tell all I now know about this recesssive gene. pups My first post to this subject was in Feb...Some may not agree, but I am beginning to think the health problems with non-standard color Yorkies is exaggerated. I know some have problems, but probably no more then the average blue/gold, black/tan Yorkie. You are being perfectly honest with any potential buyer to say...I can not predict the future with these pups, no more tehnthe standard color, but you may return them if you have a serious health problem. Ask a fair price for your expenses and let them know it is not refundable since it is for expenses and not profit. No papers and agree to neutering. If you need help finding homes, let Whispersmoms and I know...we can help you. Now smile and think how lucky you are to have 4 fat, adorable Yorkie babies who will soon be giving you lots of wet kisses. |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a pic of our blue pup he will be 8 wks soon no health problems as of yet have had him too the vet 3 times am just worried a litle I guess after all I have read ,our last blue is still doing well and is healthy, this pup is so cute and lovey our kids want to keep the little fur ball will see, he is going to be a big boy about 2 pds now. I woul dnot put those pups down is not their fault they were born that way I would wait and see what happens with them, do not breed the parents together again or you may have more of these little stinkers, ours have been healthy so far (knock on wood). |

If I was in this situation, I would think of it this way:: If I had a baby and it came out with a problem like that, and they said my child could only have a certain amount of years to live, or could be fine, I wouldn't kill my baby. |
thank you I think he is adorable too over the past few weeks he has gotten darker in color lost his light blue or grey coloring and turned to a dark mousey grey, hopefully he will be fine just like the other one but you never can tell. He has such a personality he a singleton pup and has gotten very brave here lately very out going and torments our other dogs struts around like he is king tut. |

I believe the fatal colored blue born pups have no tan pigment at all and their noses, pads and such are also blue. I am going to have to do more research on these "silver" type born pups. I know some people say chocolate can look silver/tan at birth. |
Well CC's, lets hope mines are not the 'true blue ones'... They have the right tan color in place, only the black is replaced by grey and, in the light, there are brown reflects in the coat. By all means, to everyone here that has questionable puppies. If they seem healthy please don't put them down. Just make sure that they go to good homes who know what the history is behind them. As long as they aren't being breed purposely, thus making sure that they are "fixed", why they can't be placed with loving people. To me they are just as adorable as any other color... |
