YorkieTalk.com Photo Gallery - Jillian-Blue_Born---4-13_4_Framed - Powered by PhotoPost Attached is another blue born yorkie adult. As you can see, the blue coat on blue borns, don't grow the way the black/tan born yorkies coats grow. On the blue born, the tan coloring grows normally but in many, the blue coloring doesn't. Initially the coat may start out growing normally but often times between 6 mos. - 3 years, the blue coat becomes sparse and skin problems develop. Good luck with your pup, please keep us posted on how she's doing. |

Born Blue puppy Several years ago I had 1 puppy born blue---a true Great Dane color Blue--or I've seen Chihuahuas born this color---which is fine for Danes or Chihuahuas--- I was told there would be problems but my normal me said to my self--"They are wrong" I'm saving this puppy and placing it in a nice home ! We did fine for some weeks and I was getting more and more sure everyone was wrong ! One morning at about 6 or 7 weeks old the pup had a tiny spot of scale on top of the head--I thought no problem--put a little ointment on top of the scab--the next day the whole top of the head was a big scab--which spread all over the body--the skin was thick-puffy--scales all over the hair was lost over all the back -head--tail--nothing but the tan--gold hair remained--He sickened and finally out of mercy I had im put down---this was a horrible situation. The other pups were fine--healthy as horses ! My decision was place the sire and Dam as pets--and all the pups were placed as pets only (back before limited registration) In no way would I ever breed that pair again ! That little puppy was sooooo sick. It wasn't just no hair---he was sick--totally getting down with no life to get up and eat !! It was something I don't want to do EVER AGAIN !! |
blue chihuahua I can only speak for blue chihuahuas. It is wrong that blue colour is fine for chihuahuas. Blue chihuahuas are often naked, the fur often falls out when they are grow. The skin is different from normal coloured chihuahuas. No reputable breeder wants blues in his chihuahuas. I donīt know if it is the same in great danes. |

NO NO it's ok to have Danes in Blue--I'm just saying the color is a grayish blue color--and I've seen perfectly nice blue Chihuahua's as well but born blue Yorkies is another story---it usually does NOT TURN OUT WELL !! |
~Blue Born Puppy~ We just had 3 beautiful healthy little puppies~but one is blue. I have been reading everything I can possibly read about them~sadly there is no guarantee that he'll be ok. I am not going to sell him~and am definitely not putting him down. I read in a couple of sites where the breeders said to put them down before you get too attached 'cause they are only going to have health/skin problems and 'cause greater heartache later when it has to be put down. I just can't do it!! & feel I will let nature take it's course with this little guy~unless I can see he is in great pain and suffering from his condition. I just didn't find much out there about what happens to these little guys as adults~just a lot of mixed 'opinions' but not a lot of pics or progress reports!! I trying to follow the story on here about 'Mac'~and so far he is doing great~which gives me hope!!:) I will post some pics of our 'little blue' and try to give updates as well. Here he is just a couple of hours old. |

My vet told me that because my Chi has blue in her bloodline that she could have skin problems & allergic problems. So far so good but she has always chewed her foot. not to where she has a sore on it but does chew on it. She is 2 now. Praying she will be ok as she gets older. |
Again!!! Don't give up! My "blue" baby Mack is a true testimony that not all blue borns turn out bad!!! He is the best baby/animal/pet I have ever known!!! |
hi sorry i just read this post im have a chocolate yorkie and she is 15 weeks olds she loosing her hair on her ears and back and now she look blue i think she is a blue yorkie if you coul help me with my concerns plz thanks |
Hi and welcome. This is an old thread. Please start a new thread. |
Hi, first you must have sure your dog is a real Chocolate and, yes, I think they loose hair like the blues do but, that doensn't mean he is going to be a sick dog in future, just a sparse hair doglike so many others. |
Blue born Yorkie Yes about 2 years ago my friend had a Blue born Yorkie . It died at the age of 9 mths old. They took it to the vets office for a check up. Five days later he was dead. He was fine when they took him to the vets office. They still don"t know what happened to him. They say it was because he was a blue born. They never bred there Yorkies again. They got both parents to this puppy fixed. So some blue born have problems and some don"t I believe. They were just unlucky and the puppy was too. So sad.:animal-pa:animal-pa |
