| Any guesses on how many babies? My Ellie is now 42 days prego. I'm wondering how many babies I can expect now. Do you guys have any ideas? This is her first pregnancy. I don't know if she will make it to day 63. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Oh my goodness! Is she really as big as she looks?!!! I'd say about 10 puppies!!! No seriously, she does look awfully big for 42 days; how much does she weigh pre pregnancy? Are you going to have an xray done to see how many are in there? I'd sure want to know. Just from the pics, my REAL guess will be 5 puppies.....maybe 6.

| Yes She is The belly shot is a close up but the other's are not as close. She was 5.4lbs when she got tied with my 3.4lb male. I am so nervous about this. She tied on 1/3 and according to the whelping chart that I have, she woudl be due on 3/7. I have an x-ray scheduled for 2/27, but am wondering if I need to move that date up. What are your thoughts? |

| She loves to have her tummy rubbed. She also has a clear really thin discharge which I have read is normal. It's not the mucus plug, I know what looks like. She is very moody when it comes to my male wanting attention. I have all the whelping supplies ready and stuff like that. I was just hoping for 3 or 4, but I am thinking that there are more. I just hope she doesn't need a c-section. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Having bred only one litter so far I am no expert by any means, but I'd think that if your sure of her first "tie" date, then an xray any sooner than a week before her whelp date wouldn't be as helpful because the pups bones wouldn't be calcified enough to show up clearly on the xray. Have YOU bred litters before or is this your first also? I've have bred one litter and it was with a much larger female. I plan on breeding my current female in May (hopefully). She is about 6 lbs and I am sure it will be a whole new experiance for me. I am both very anxious & excited and a little nervous with her being much smaller than my other female.

| I had a litter of Shorkies born back in November. My Shih-Tzu female was 9lbs, and it was the same dad, the little 3.4lb "Captain Jack". She had 6 puppies as well. She needed a C-Section because she wouldn't have any contractions. Because of that experience, I have never helped in the delivery of puppies and am very nervous about it. I am just praying that everything goes well. (((Please pass on your prayers for my Ellie. She is my baby))) |

| Ugh...how never wracking. Taking on helping a bitch whelp a litter when you've had no prior experience is never an ideal situation. You should have an x-ray performed about 10 days prior to her due date. This will give you a guessimate as to how many puppies to expect, but more importantly, will give you and your vet an heads up if it looks like the puppies are large and a c-section may be needed. It's best to be able to plan for a possible c-section than to rush to have an emergency procedure done with your female in distress. |

| Thanks. I have helped delivery pigs, but never puppies. I have been watching a lot of videos and doing a lot of research. You can say that I am pretty obsessed by it to tell the truth. I'm just hoping that all goes well, and that is why I am planning on getting the x-ray done before she has the puppies. I was wanting breeder's opinions how many they thought that she would have based on her size. |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | welcome to Yt...glad to have you here! can't wait to see pictures...i am guessing maybe 6...hehe... the stud determine the size of the puppy and the bitch determines how many... also i would recommend using this java birth calculated if you already haven't...it helps you get a better idea of what is going on inside her and when the best time to do an ultrasound or xray its good luck and keep us posted.
