| Wow, that' s really odd. Sounds like your Momma is being selective about which baby she's going to care for. Can you take the day off and keep a watch over how they're doing? (Maybe she was going to go back and get the little girl too and move them to a better spot) The dead puppy she probably just hid it somewhere because she knows it isn't alive. Sorry about all this, I hope she comes around and is a good mother to at least one or two. |

| you need to move your mom & babies into a quiet room all alone, no kids & no other dogs. also do you have an xpen, or a small bathroom where mom can't move the babies, she needs to stay with them to keep them warm. sorry for the lose of the one and that you have to go to work but please put her someplace quiet or she may harm the others just trying to protect them.

Yes she is in a xpen (really its called the iris kennel) and she cant get out, she could earlier because i took the front panel off to get in with her and didnt latch it all they way back. Thanks for the advice everyone i hope all is well when i get there im hoping hubby will stop by and check on everyone. |

| I am sure if you have other dogs you could just let them sniff out the little lost one. I am sure they can smell something like that way easier than we will. I hope you can find him before your kids do too. Keep us updated on how they are. |

| When I have a mom go into labor i am right by them the whole time until they are done and all is well. I make that pot of coffee so I do not get to tired or doze off. Maybe you will find the little one or she very well could have consumed it. I would keep mom all by herself in a nice and quiet place away from all the others and noise. I run a fan in our room keeps out some of the noise in teh household during the day. |

I was thinking the same thing though about letting the other dogs "sniff out" the lost one. I would think they would find it fast if its out there.

| There is always another person with me while assisting with a whelping, and we don't sleep until it's completely over. Too many things can go wrong as described in this thread. We also segregate our girls the final week of pregnancy until the puppies are weaned. |

| I don't want to cause any problems on this thread but I don't think picking on her for going to sleep is called for. I know the OP and I know that she cares for her dogs and sure didn't want anything to happen! |

| thank you yorkie luv yes im already beating my self up for falling asleep i have never done that to any of my moms and i i knew better than to do that with little girl its no excuse but i started a job after 2 years at home, then immediately go promoted to full time, then both my kids got sick, i got sick, my babysitters mother passed unexpectently and we couldnt find child care, my father in law was diagnosed with lung cancer right before he was supposed to go in for triple bypass, my employer did its second lay off, and my boss was terminated...this happened all in one week as well as by my calculations little girl was due saturday not tuesday. i feel awful because i know if i had been awake that little puppy would still be here! its my fault! this is the first time i have ever lost a puppy! i know the first time she had puppies ( this was her second litter and we have/had plans to have her fixed after this one ) she had one born not breathing and we brought her back. the other dogs havent smelled the missing baby yet |
