There are several factors working against you here:

1) Her age. 7 is too hold for a dog to be bred, even for an experienced momma, more so for a dog who has never had a litter before.
2) You are inexperienced and unprepared.

If it were me, I would have her spayed and terminate. As you say, it's a tough decision, but IMO is what would be in her best interest.

I'm not trying to say that she can't have the puppies. The point that I attempted to make is that there is no solace in the fact that the male is "smaller". Often the litter would be birthed without a problem if it weren't for the one puppy that couldn't make it out. that's the puppy that sends you to the emergency vet clinic at midnight to pay a thousand dollars to have one puppy removed.

That would be like a 39 year old having their first child. I would talk to the vet and see what he says. So sorry you're having to go through this. I know it's a very hard decision for you

You really seem to love her, and I believe you would be devestated if you lost her. You might even lose all the pups. I'm not trying to put a damper on you decision, but as hard as it would be for me I'd have her spayed, and spare her the pain. Whatever your decision we will be here to back you up.
