| Yes the Vet did check her out and she seemed fine. I am going back to the vet today to do the tails and declaws. So I will have her checked again. I have been feeding her a mixture of boiled chicken and rice with IAMS dogs food mixed with the baby powder milk. Shes been eating fine. Not so sure what to offer next. While feeding the pudding do I still feed her dog food? |

| She may have gotten sick from eating the sacks, and cleaning them up, but I'd still inform the vet. Congratulations, and best wishes.

| CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW FAMILY!!!!! I can't wait to see pics The whelping pudding is a supplemental food to supply extra calcuim and energy. The pudding recipe listed is great, I have "customized" my version of the recipe: 1 can goat's milk + 1 can hot water 1/2 cup kayro syrup 1 small carton of live active culture plain yogurt - NOT FAT/SUGAR FREE - the real stuff 2 egg yolks 4 envelopes Knox plain gelatin dissolve gelatin in hot water let cool a bit, add remaining ingredients stir well and pour in a square dish (I use a tupperware bacon keeper). Slice into squares when cool and feed. Tums are fine sources of calcium but you might not need them if you are feeding the whelping pudding. Dr. Amy always cautions me against using calcium supplements such as CalSorb unless they are absolutely necessary because these supplements prevents the mother from utilizing the calcium from her bones to help in milk production. You DO want to be familar with the signs of hypocalcemia - here is a link to a site that explains Eclampsia (Puerperal Tetany, Milk Fever, Hypocalcemia) in Dogs |

| I went back to the vet yesterday to the one I originally went to. We cut tails and declaws. The vet said all the puppies are thriving and healthy. The biggest one weighs 5.0 ounces and the smallest 2.0 ounces. My mama is going good as well. I dont know why she was throwing up the vet looked her over as well and gave her a clean bill of health. She is a really good mama and loving every minute spoiled. Thanks all! |
