| In a pure bred Yorkie having an "applehead" shaped skull is seen as a defect. Ideally, a Yorkie's head has a certain flatness or levelness to it (unlike cockers or poodles rounder skulls), an applehead will quickly disqualify a dog as one to reproduce or show. It is considered inferior and possibly an indicator of lower intelligence (I have NO idea if this last is true). Any way, I'd stay away from anything that said "applehead". My thoughts would be: * poor breeding, possibly exessive inbreeding; * ignorant breeder and I don't want those dogs; * silly, casual breeder who simply doesn't 'get it'; too busy being cute or pushing sales ---- again, not interested. I have a wonderful Yorkie as a pet who is also a service dog (anosmia); he happens to have his AKC papers which I've never bothered to send in as he will not reproduce and is fixed. But I still wanted to learn about the breed and am very glad I have a Yorkie. |

| I have heard this before. A lot of the breeders that breed the tinies use this term, as well as the baby doll term. To be totally honest, I do not know what that means. Does anyone have a picture (need not be yours) of an "apple headed" yorkie and then side by side an AKC standard of a correct yorkie's head - for comparison. Just curious. |

Yes they look cute perhaps but they have a very big problem that can be terminal way sooner than you think. | |
