Tail docking twist/cut

Hmmm, not sure about things where you live, but here "banding" is illegal. It's considered a form of animal cruelty. I wouldn't recommended that method, even if it wasn't considered such. IMO, easier on the breeder, worse of the pups and MUCH more prone to infection. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend attempting to crop the tails on your own if you have not been shown first hand how to properly do so. Perhaps you are working with a mentor that could give you an assist? If not, take them to your vet and have them show you how.

Excellent post! No one should attempt to do this without some training from an experienced breeder or vet. There have been too many problems and this is one of the reasons England passed laws to prohibit tail docking, a few breeders ruined it for everyone.

Here is a good video of how to do it. This is how I do mine however I leave the clamp on for about a minute before I dock them. And then I leave the hemostats on for a minute after they are docked. This way there is no blood. And use clotisol to be on the safe side.

I will never again let a vet do my pups' tails. I was so traumatized the first time I took them to a vet and had it done.
