Just want to thank you for this link. Sometimes I run across Newbies that say they are looking for a puppy. This will give me something for them to refer to. Joanne

It's called being open and honest and having nothing to hide...Hiding and lying gets no one anywhere except caught and it will come back to bite those in the butt that do it to others just to try to make a dollar off of our precious breed. I love our Breed dearly and yes I have to say I for one would give my life up for our breed...I'm 100% dedicated to our breed. I don't see how any Breeder couldn't be. They steal your heart in so many ways... I can only hope I will do our Breed as much honor as our fellow Show Breeder here on YT do...I speak of Show Breeders for they are the ones who will stand up and breed to preserve our Breed by the AKC Standards... I hope I will be such as they are one day...I'm working towards it that's for sure...Trying my best...Mistakes are plenty as with anything, but I feel it's best to admit your mistake and learn from them and go forward not backwards... Oh I hope more Breeders will come on and add to what I had to say....Thanks so much for your sweet and kind words, I truly value them. Lee | |

| What you have described seems very fishy. I think I would have to pass on this breeder if I were you. I didn't read all of the responses, so I may just be repeating what others have already told you. A few things to look for-- A breeder who has a detailed sales agreement that will protect both the breeder AND you. Specifically one that clearly defines how a situation will be handled should the pup be diagnosed with a genetic related health condition. A breeder who is not trying to get the pups out the door as quickly as possible--one who won't release the pups until 12 weeks (or close to it) A breeder who requires the pup to be placed on limited registration. (No respectable breeder will just hand over a dog that can be bred, no questions asked.) If the breeder is withholding paperwork until you show proof of s/n, that's understandable, but just to say they'll "be mailed to you later..." NO WAY! Too many people have fallen for that and been taken. If there are any areas of concern you have, get it in writing! If possible, get a copy of the sales agreement to look over ahead of time and post it here. You can bet that if there is anything out of the ordinary, someone here will catch it and help you out! Good luck w/ your search! |
