Dna Can you imagine if you had shown her, got a championship, bred her and sold her puppies...you would have a ton of money to refund...and if you find the breeder, she owes you money and all the other pups she sold with incorrect DNA... AKC will not help you with a refund from the breeder..that is a civil matter, but they should give you the breeders address if she is still registering with AKC...good luck

| YT 1000 Club Member | I have a question and maybe it makes me sound ignorant but I'm going to ask anyway. Roxie is my first purebred dog, I've always adopted from a shelter. Anyway...if your not planning on showing or breeding and your yorkie is just for my pure pleasure of a companion is it still necessary or important to register them? |

I for one think this is bad breeding practices...I'm a Breeder and I know which male is the sire to my puppies...I have 2 males and 3 females, I just don't see how in the world a breeder could get things such as this messed up...Not a good breeder in my OPO... There's where a Breeder should "KNOW" when to separate males and females due to heat cycles and keep their records straight...And keep litters separate too... I've never had 2 litters at one time though but I would not think it would be hard to know which Damn had what puppies if you kept your records straight...and kept the damns and litters separate in playpens...This is sad this is happening in our Yorkshire Terrier Breed... If I was you and this was done to me, I would ask for any fees that I had incurred while I was searching and trying to figure this all out after all it is her fault you are in this situation. If this ever happen to me as a Breeder I would be more then willing to help one of my adopted parents out in any way I could and yes refund their expenses during their search. I wish you the best in your search & please keep us updated on your findings. Lee

Looks like a major can of worms has just been opened. I had all three of mine DNA tested, but I suppose it went just fine. NOW, I think anyone who pays a lot for a puppy, show quality or not, just because of some Champion backgrounds should insist on them getting the parents DNA tested and you get the puppy tested, and a contract drawn up that your money will be returned in the event the puppy isn't from the parents they said it was.

Wow, this is all pretty scary... I have been scammed out of papers before.. and the breeder seems to be able to get away with it.. not right..I would try taking her to civil court tho.. and go for money.. hit where it hurts her.. mabye then she might look after things better as a breeder...I am with yorkierose.. if it is for a pet.. who cares about papers.. but for breeding, showing.. you need those papers.. anne

I had this happen to me, but Maggies breeder Hurd about Poodles in Ohio and the AKC straightened it out within the year and reinstated her. I didn't worry about it because we had already had Maggie spayed as I got ther for a pet and not for breeding. I don't know what you can do if the breeder is unhelpful. Good Luck. I hope you get this figured out...

Get What You Pay For I think if you pay for an AKC dog then that's what you should get, she said she paid $1500.00 that's ALOT of money, if it's the dog is not for breeding or showing she still should have gotten the correct papers because that's what she paid for. pet or not. I hope the breeder helps you get the correct papers. best of luck to you.
