Keep in mind the temperature thing does not always work. Sometimes it will dip down and then come back up and labor can begin. I have had several that would start into labor and their temperature would be a little over 100. Good luck to you. |

You won't know if she has "gone over" so to speak if you are using breeding dates. 63 days goes from the date of ovulation, not date of breeding. If you don't do progesterone or LH testing or have a history of prior ovulation dates for a particular bitch (or have a dog that will only breed a bitch when she is indeed fertile, which is somewhat unusual) you don't actually know the due date. Sperm can live 5-7 days and possibly longer, so it is possible that she was bred 5 days prior to ovulation, with the eggs being fertilized 2 days post- ovulation. So if you are working off a breeding date you might think the bitch is overdue by 5 days when in reality she is right on time at day 68 per your count... |

Thanks for the update....still waiting.... |
Thanks for the update. As many people have probably told you, as they told me, the temperature isnt the most accurate thing in the world. In fact, some of the breeders on here do not even use the temperature-approach. I believe that some dogs want to have the puppies while no one is around, while others want the people that are closest to them right there with them. Chloe had to have us there.........Maybe Peyton wants to do it when she thinks no one is around? Only a theory. I dont want to get yelled at by any breeders, so I am putting a disclaimer that I am not saying to leave the dog alone completely, just let her think that she is alone. Have you noticed any diarrhea or anything yet? |

Hi, I'm new to Yorkie Talk. I've been following this thread for the past 2 days and am anxiously waiting to hear of the puppies' arrival. My Stevie Rae is in her 56th day since her first tie with a cute male Yorkie. (I always say, "He's almost as cute as Stevie Rae." I just think it is healthy to think your dog is the cutest one of all. There's no offense if you think the same about your dog.) Anyway, as I'll soon be in the same place that Bailey's mom is in, I'm following this thread with special interest. |
So quick question .....Well a few questions... First, as far as a temp drop ... does the temp stay down the whole time or can it go back up?? At 11:15 When Peytons temp was taken it was at 97.2 Her temp was the following so far today 07:23 am Temp @ 99.6 11:15 am Temp @ 97.2 12:26 pm Temp @ 99.1 02:19 pm Temp @ 98.8 03:00 pm Temp @ 99.3 So im not sure if that was her drop when it hit 97.2 @ 11:15. Second, Will the puppies be moving alot after they are lined up?? How will you know if they are lined up ready to go? Third, will her tummy be really hard when she is ready to go?? All help is welcome and appreciated. ** She also is still acting normal ...all she wants to do though is sleep all day. She lays down for a little bit and then moves to a new spot. |

I say if it went down to 97.2 it will probably be soon. Yes, it does go back up. That's why it is often missed. That was probably the drop since it is way below the normal ones she's had. Her tummy will get hard with each contraction. You will feel the outlines of the "puppy lumps". I haven't noticed much movement of puppies once they are in labor. Hopefully it will be today. |

Puppy Watch Continues.....Day 64 Ohhh I hope soooo i want those furbabies ......NOWWWWWWWW :p So if it was at 11:15 when she had the drop (temp was checked two times just to make sure no error in temp.) how long before she would deliver them?? Also is there a chance the temp can drop like that and no babies come till a day or days later??? |

from what i read in another thread ...a breeder there had puppies about 18 hours after that big drop...by the way her drop was 97.9.....then back around 99.0 till puppies....her drop was at 10:30pm and puppies were being born at 4:45pm next day.....so that is around 18 hours at the most.... |
Oh that would be great to have puppies sooon!!! I cant stand it anymore....LOL I was so excited i saw that she was digging in one of her whelping areas and i surely though that she was nesting... come to find out she was hiding a treat..... |
