Puppies not selling Hi I have been breeding about 2 or 3 litters a year of my Champion Sired females and have always sold my babies within a few weeks of birth. This is the first time in over 25 years that I still have puppies which will be 3 months old. There are so many people out there selling puppies you don't no what you are getting anymore. They are treating these babies like livestock for goodness sake. |

Hi! Welcome to YT. I agree with what you said. I am sorry your pups are not selling as fast. Do you think just the economy itself could be affecting this also. I think I have heard or seen that some of the sellers on here saying something similiar about taking longer to sell pups/dogs. I know the mortgage crisis has caused many to put their dogs in rescues or sadly just abandon them. |

I am seeing and thinking the same thing.. have you listed them here on YT.. and tell people a little more about yourself.. do you have a site you can advertise.. it is pretty tight all over and I know many are selling puppies for less then the normal rate.. people are just having tough times I think right now.. post some pictures for us all... any info might help you here... good lucky...anne |

I am a dog owner not a breeder but I really think its the economy. We bought our 2 yorkies 3 yrs ago. I dont know if I would buy them if it was now. The prices of grocerys, utilities, and gas has risen. There just seems to be alot less disposable income |

Welcome to YT:) I'd love to see pics of your babies when you have a chance:) I know one thing, if I was to purchase my babies today, I wouldn't be able to:( The economy has been not-so-kind to us. Perhaps you might have to advertise more? |

Everyone says its the economy but if you pick up a newspaper now a days there are 10 ads in the paper all saying the same thing. I no its the economy and people just don't want to drive anymore. But, I no the Amish and all these puppy mills opening up is really affecting the market too. Most people seem to buy pets on impulse not by researching the breed and than finding a reputable breeder. I no I have had at least 1 call a week for someone that doesn't want there pet anymore and wants me to take it in and find a home. |
|
I guess you'll just have to give them all to me ;) :D I have to agree with what everyone else said about the economy. I guess when people have to make a choice between groceries and buying a puppy.... I wish you much luck in finding good forever homes for your babies. |

We adopted Daisy from a nice family who couldn't keep her and I know it will forever effect her. She's very attached to us, but so scared that I'll leave her. It makes it hard to even leave her at the groomers. I know she's worried the whole time I'm gone. |

I'm looking for a yorkie to add to my family, but can't find one I can afford the purchase fee for! I just found one on craigslist that I'm hoping I can get...but it's probably already gone!!!! I live in NC. I absolutely think it's the economy AND the fact that you have so many "hobby breeders" and byb's nowadays that the competition is just to much! I'm sorry to hear you are so negatively affected. I'm actually surprised you have any puppies left!! Do you have a website? Photos? I'd love to see them! |

Yes, it is the economy. Gasoline prices are nearly $5.00 a gallon right now, and Bills are sky rocketing. It is summer time, and people are taking vactions too. Yorkies are noritiously expensive. I hope you are able to find great homes for your little Yorkie babies.:aimeeyork My Suzi will be 15 weeks old on Monday. I was very lucky to find a good breeder that was not too far away, and whose prices were that I could afford. :animal-pa |

I have posted some pictures on the site. I just haven't figured my way around the full site yet. You are so right you really have to watch who you sell to. I have a claus in my contract that if you can not for any reason keep one of my babies you have to bring it back. I get more calls from people that are just trying to buy up good stock to put in their own lines. I could not imagine one of my babies locked up in a cage onaly used for making money. How sad. |

In fact there was a thread made by a breeder about testing.. maybe you could read it and learn some more.. I am not saying this to be mean.. but I think you and some others that do not breed or show.. need to get good advice before you put all the eggs in one basket.. am I upset.. your darn tooten I am..I would invite you into my home and see what I do and how I do it and how my dogs live and what testing is done. and who I would chose to be so lucky to own one of my precious babies.. anne |

i have heard that dogs LIVE IN THE MOMENT and do not grieve or miss their old owners after a few days.. maybe i am wrong..:) it could be that you are worried and passing that fear / anxiety to her.. i think they know how we feel, and they react to us.. she probably loves you so much because you love her so much...... they are so dependent on us.. quite a responsibility..:) |

geez the encomy is slow and i am here to tell you i am a very small breeder/show person and i have champion lines and own a champion and i do not blame this on hobbie breeder's most test and do what they need to do just because you have champion lines at this date and time does not mean you are not a hobby breeder do you show? if not what set's you apart from the rest of the hobby breeder's there is many with champion lines and testing well yeah it need's to be done but has left a sour grape in my mouth times are tough and babies are being born with unsure future's maybe hobby breeder'a and such need to slow down and breed less for awhile and three months old i don't even think about letting my babies go until 3 months old which is 12 week's so what's the hurry if they don't sell have your lines tested as they get older give the public more security in purchasing a puppy make your lines stand out again just because they are champion sired does not mean alot to a wanna be pet owner and it mean's more to the public right now to beable to put gas in there car's than to buy a puppy and have vet bills' this is an election year people things always get wishy washy during this time and to tell ya you will not set yourself apart comming on her as a neebie just to sell pup's there is alot that do that already but anyway welcome to yt |

testing does not make a person a better breeder.. if there is one puppy in a litter with a disease, the entire breeding program needs to be ended.. those males and females need to be fixed.. no testing needed.. just retire them to be happy pets.. if you want to breed again, then get new healthy puppies.. and wait 2 years for them to grow up... i asked my vet about testing, and she said it was not necessary.. if i see symptoms of illness, then it will be time to test.. and no one is drawing blood from my dogs jugular vein.. this is my definition of responsible.. thanks yt for teaching me from your experiences..:animal-pa |

I think it's the economy as well as there's alot of people breeding their pets lately. |

To the OP: Your babies are SO precious!! I am totally and completly in love. I'm not sure what the above conversation is all about, but parents should without a doubt be tested before being bred. Don't wait until a puppy gets sick and dies (and breaks an owner's heart) to do the responsible thing. It really is worth the couple hundred dollars it may cost to have them tested to ensure that there aren't any awful genetic illnesses being passed down the lines. and this is OT: As far as the blood being drawn from the juggular vein, Tucker went in to have a cyst thing looked at, and they took some blood from there. Tucker was perfect, but I passed out lol. |

I no exactly what you are saying....it makes you mad that you have to compete with someone who is just out to make money not caring at all to better the breed, feeding their dogs garbage food with no vitamins or love. It makes you want to stand on the side of the road and say " hey at least look and touch my babies and than if you don't want them I could understand. The pictures I take of my babies make them look like little monsters LOL! Dog lover I am photographer I am not. As far as dogs memories go. I have tried to place older dogs and they are miserable for days, weeks not just hours. I think a puppy might not have a long memory span but I no my older girls sure do. So, I no if I get a dog it is forever and I truely hope and pray that anyone that is lucky enough to get a baby from me feels that same way. |
