| ![]() You should change your dictionary , harrassing is not the meaning of asking a simple question . Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 06-17-2008 at 05:58 PM. |

| ![]() The people who want to be educated can be. But there is always room for a difference of opinion, even after researching and studying. I personally don't have a problem with mixed breeds within limits. Not a Rotti/Shire certainly, but mixed small breeds are okay with me. There will always be pure bred Yorkies, and as long as the mixes are sold as mixes, there should be room for them too. Just because I wouldn't do it, doesn't mean it is a sin for someone else to do it. And as I've said before "pound" puppies/dogs are just not for everyone. We all should have a choice. I would be more comfortable with the OP's actions if she hunted down the owner/breeder of the dogs in the pound and questioned them. Unless the seller is a puppy mill, or seriously endangering the lives of the mother/puppies, I think there should be a peaceful co-existence. Of course this is just my opinion and I realize others may differ. PEACE!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() The problem lies with the fact many breeders sell their puppies...without any regard to what happens should those puppies ever be bred...and the ones after those and the ones after that. I personally do not like the phrase...designer dog and I owned ONE...pretty certain she was very rare and could never be duplicated... ![]()

| ![]() While I'm no fan of mixing breeds, I do understand that every pure bred dog was at one time a 'mutt'. With any mix-breed, a group of breeders could get together and attempt to get a breed recognized if they could set a 'type'. One that comes to mind (and makes no sense to me) is the Silky Terrier. It's only been recognized for less than 50 years and resembles an off-standard Yorkie more than a distinct breed. It wouldn't surprise me if something such as a Morkie was recognized at some future time. Though there are some ridiculous mixes, some are quite good looking dogs and I personally withhold criticizing those who breed mixes. In my mind, the only 'pure bred' dog is the Wolf and everything else is a controlled derivative breed (mutt) from them. All this doesn't excuse the rudeness of the person that e-mailed you, but they've probably heard all the criticisms before. Maybe your e-mail was the straw that broke the camel's back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() Your email wasn't negative but you questioned her right to breed her dogs and that put her back up. Designer dogs are a hot market now so greeders will capitalize. People are also very into the mixes because they feel they have something extra special so as long as the demand is there greeders will fill that supply need.

Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Don't be offended by their ignorance. I always see postings about people who want a free Yorkie, or any breed because they can't "afford" one. IMO, if they can't afford the price for the puppy itself, how can they care for it during its lifetime? Eww.

| ![]() Her language was foul and shows she has no class. She definetely could have handled your email better. That being said, she has a right to breed mix breeds as long as she's being a responsible breeder and taking good care of her dogs and puppies. I've seen it mentioned on several forums that if people want mixed breeds they could rescue a dog but the fact is, we all want what we want whether it's a purebred Yorkie, a Pomshire or a rescue dog. I personally won't go to the pound because of my past experiance with having a dog without seeing the mother's temperament. I will never again get a dog unless I can check out the mother. Before I got Bella I almost got a Yorkie/Maltese mix because of the price. But, I always wanted a Yorkie and knew I still would even if I got the mix pup so changed my mind and I'm so glad it did!

That's the first step in having a breed recognized.
