While I'm no fan of mixing breeds, I do understand that every pure bred dog was at one time a 'mutt'. With any mix-breed, a group of breeders could get together and attempt to get a breed recognized if they could set a 'type'. One that comes to mind (and makes no sense to me) is the Silky Terrier. It's only been recognized for less than 50 years and resembles an off-standard Yorkie more than a distinct breed. It wouldn't surprise me if something such as a Morkie was recognized at some future time. Though there are some ridiculous mixes, some are quite good looking dogs and I personally withhold criticizing those who breed mixes. In my mind, the only 'pure bred' dog is the Wolf and everything else is a controlled derivative breed (mutt) from them. All this doesn't excuse the rudeness of the person that e-mailed you, but they've probably heard all the criticisms before. Maybe your e-mail was the straw that broke the camel's back.
