| I've always gotten this part a bit confused. Four weeks equals 28 days so 8 weeks equals 56 days . Since dogs give birth anywhere from 60-64 days. Then isnt it true that dogs are pregnant about : 63 days = 9 weeks Lola is 35 days pregnant (5 weeks) so she has approx 28 days left. I know people can be off by 2-5 days on their calculations thats why sometimes we think the dog gave birth too early or too late. I will be very careful and take her temp for 1 week before her "due date" Does anyone know if those ear thermometers work the same on dogs? I saw an ear thermometer at Walmart ,very affordable at $14! It only takes 1-2 seconds to get a temperature reading. I rather do that ,instead of holding a rectal thermometer in her butt for 1 minute every day for a week lol. I will ask this question in the breeder forum... Genie |

| Cesar if you are not sure then I seriously think you should make an appt for an X-ray by June 19h.That is 1 week before she is due. Have you noticed her any bigger in the ribcage?Nipples swollen a bit? I called a vet for a Xray price and it wasn't as expensive as I thought $5 I dont think you want to be surprised with a whelping and have no supplies at all with you. Ive had a few nightmares that I wake up and find Lola's already given birth and the puppies are freezing cold on our tile floor I havent gone out and bought any hemostats ,puppyformula and other stuff yet. I got the syringe bulb to suck the fluids out of the pups nose and mouth. I already had the heating pad, lots of new towels and washcloths and I did order a highly recommended book by Myra Servant Canine Reproduction and Whelping. It should arrive this week and I am goign to read it cover to cover as soon as I get it! lol |

| I made the X-ray appt today. So she will get the X-ray June 27th which would make her 47 days pregnant. I swear some vets/assistants dont know a whole lot on canine pregnancies. One assistant told me it was too early to Palpate the abdomen! Every breeder I've talked to and almost 40+ website Whelping links that Ive read ( ALL say the same thing!) You can only palpate from 28-30 days. After that it makes it very difficult because of the fluid that starts building up in the abdomen. She had a clear discharge Thursday ,at that time she was 4 1/2 weeks. It was a small amount . Like the size of a Pea,just hanging off her Vulva like a booger lol. She's had many symptoms: Larger nipples, throwing up at 3-4 weeks, ribcage is wider by about 1.25" ! She's deffinately gain about 8-10 ounces. My main reason for denial is that her belly is very hard.I usuallysee like actual breasts with bigger nipples. She has a solid round belly. Iknow I am just crazy at this point ,overanalyszing everything! lol So in 11 days I'll finally have the answer. I will see if they give me a copy of the Xray. If she is....I will scan it and resize it and post it here. I haven't seen anyone post Xrays here. I hope they give me a copy! Genie |

| Chloe is due around July 8th. She "popped" around day 33 or so - at least thats when her belly was more prominant. I noticed that her belly was bigger a few days after noticing clear discharge (just like Genie (Cookie2) was talking about).

| My vet only does ultrasounds too. I am taking her to a different vet that does them. My cousin just finished her pediatric small animal training at UPenn and her professor highly recommends the Xrays to determine the skull size, the number, and the positioning of the pups. I have heard that day 55 - 57 is appropriate for X-rays.
