| Oprah Winfrey Show about puppy mills Hi everyone, Did anyone see the Oprah show today about the puppy mills. I dont know about you but I sat there and cryed all the way though it. It just broke my heart to watch it. Everytime I have watched anything on the puppy mills I just HOPE AND PRAY!!! I have made the right decision on who I have sold my puppies to. I do ask a lot of questions but if selling out of state or not close by how do I know???? It is so sad there are people out there that have such mills. Just wanted to share my pain on this subject. Hugs and lots of love to those baby that have to live in such a terrible conditions. Sue

| I saw the first airing of the show and then the update today. It is heartbreaking to watch but it is the life of way too many dogs. This past week, a Petland opened in our area and I've been trying to bring some awareness about them. They operate 140 stores with 25 more planned this year. They are probably the biggest outlet for puppy mill puppies in the country. I've contacted our local humane society, talked to our local TV station and spread the word among everyone I know. Our humane society humane education director does a guest column every week in our area newspaper and is supposed to make this the subject of her article this Sunday (we'll see how that goes). Even if we can't go after some Amish farmer in Pennsylvania, we can all do our part to stop Petland from selling these puppies. To badly paraphrase an old speech, "The only thing necessary for evil to take hold is for good people to do nothing". |

That's so sad I hate Petland Good Luck shutting them down. We just have a small petstore in the mall here called the Puppy store (but I refer to it as the Puppy Mill)..the man that owns it is aweful I wish it would be illegal to sell dogs commercially

| that show was heartbreaking... when my husband got home at 5:30 from work and saw me crying he was so worried something happened. to see all those beautiful dogs bunched up on top of each other in cages was horrible... i've never seen anything so disgusting in my life. those people who have puppy mills should be treated the same way and see how they like it

| Oh i watched it and my eyes were all watery. it really upset me that animals are allowed to live in these conditions.. (did you see the part where dogs were made to walk on a hamster wheel THEIR WHOLE LIFE!!! Oh my God i about lost my sanity--and one of the yellow labs the man was going to shoot because he couldnt breed her anymore her feet were so huge from walking on wire her WHOLE LIFE!) It was just so sad. There is a Petland in my area-its the only place that sells dogs. I KNOW it gets its pups from backyard breeders because a friend of mines neighbor sells its boxers to that Petland.. and they keep breeding their bitches over and over for years and years... Boxers are my favorite dog also and its just so sad... I think the states need stricter rules for these backyard breeders and they need to enforce them. If i were an animal control officer i would be shutting them down left and right and taking all of their dogs and stopping them from ever owning dogs again... (or horses, cats... etc etc) Animals feel pain, they have souls and didnt ask to be abused. It just makes me rage when ppl treat them less than what they are.. like they are an inanimate object.. (ok, ill step off my soapbox now lol....)

I thought the hamster wheel was just so sad. Can you imagine what their poor feet felt like. Our babies are so lucky. They sleep with us in a nice comfy bed. And of course they own the living room furniture. Im so glad they were able to get a few of the dogs out. I am like you I wish they can put a stop to the puppy mills. Our babies give us 150 % more love in return and so much joy. Thank you all for responding. Just love and hug your beautiful animals Hugs to all Sue
