I saw the first airing of the show and then the update today. It is heartbreaking to watch but it is the life of way too many dogs. This past week, a Petland opened in our area and I've been trying to bring some awareness about them. They operate 140 stores with 25 more planned this year. They are probably the biggest outlet for puppy mill puppies in the country. I've contacted our local humane society, talked to our local TV station and spread the word among everyone I know. Our humane society humane education director does a guest column every week in our area newspaper and is supposed to make this the subject of her article this Sunday (we'll see how that goes). Even if we can't go after some Amish farmer in Pennsylvania, we can all do our part to stop Petland from selling these puppies. To badly paraphrase an old speech, "The only thing necessary for evil to take hold is for good people to do nothing".
