| Help!!!!!!! As many of you know, I rescued an approx. 7 month old female pom/yorkie mix that looked to me like she was in heat. Well, I took her to the vet again to have her teeth cleaned and they couldn't preform the anesthetics because the vet says she's pregnant! I'm planning on having her spayed at around nine months but apparentely that won't be happening any time soon. She's approx. 5 wks along. Will she be in danger is she attempts to have these unknown pups? I REALLY don't want to abort the puppies... |

| She could have a major problem if the pups are going to be large. The Vet. should x-ray to see how big they are. |

| Did the rescue group that you got her from have any idea that she was pregnant? Maybe she was at a foster home with other dogs and they might know what kind of dog could be the Daddy. So sorry for you, I hope everything turns out O.K. !

| It does not matter what kind of dog the father is as to whether or not Mom will whelp naturally or not...The Mother determines the size of puppies being born...The adult weight of the pups will be determined by both parents...With that being said if it was a dog with a large head (such as a Shih Tzu) then she may have some difficulty whelping She will need an xray the last week to take a look and see how things are going...The xray will show head size and pelvis size...Make sure you have a vet on hand if you have any problems whelping... Read all you can while you wait for puppies!

| My sister in law found her and gave her to me, they have a neutered sheltie, so impossible for him to be the dad. i just hope she doesn't get hurt trying to have the puppies... my vet is going to do an x-ray a week before she's due. Wish me luck! |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Wow, what a surprise for you, huh? Well, is she is pregnant then the best thing for you to do is sit back and read up everything there is to whelping puppies. The debbie jensen web site has got alot of great information and/or if you just type in canine/yorkie whelping you'll come up with lots of sites to check out. Have you ever been through a whelping before? Lots of great people will be here to help you through it when the time comes. Good Luck.
