Are U lubricating U're thermometer up with KY Jelly before U insert it into her rectum??? Make sure U do or U'll hurt her more.

U need to be taking her temp wither she likes it or not...I know it's bothers U and them but it is for her safety and to allow U a little bit of time to know when she is getting ready to whelp...Trust me when her whelping time comes if U don't have any idea it's on it's way U'll wish U would of known...If U know a little ahead of time then U'll have time to get U're last minute items ready & last minute things done so U can be with her when she whelps...U can even maybe take a nap in case she whelps at night.

Here is Tiffanies' Temps before she had her last litter. I started taking Tifs' temps 2 weeks before her whelping due date. But since U have no idea when U're Yorkies' due date is I would take it every morning and evening NOW starting TODAY.

I started taking Tifs' temps in the evening on her 49th day between 8 to 9 pm

Then went to morning between 8 to 9 am & evening between 8 to 9 pm on her 54th day

Then went to 3 times a day on her 60th day, mornings between 8 to 9 am,
between 2 to 3 pm, then again in the evening between 8 to 9 pm.

There is time involved in doing such things as taking their Temps but it is for their benefit as well as for U're own.

Day 49 - 6/6/07- Evening Temp: 99.1
Day 50 - 6/7/07- Evening Temp: 99.7
Day 51 - 6/8/07- Evening Temp: 99.4
Day 52 - 6/9/07- Evening Temp: 99.1
Day 53 - 6/10/07- Evening Temp: 99.6

Day 54 - 6/11/07- Morning Temp: 99.9 Evening Temp: 99.4
Day 55 - 6/12/07- Morning Temp: 99.7 Evening Temp: 99.7
Day 56 - 6/13/07- Morning Temp: 99.9 Evening Temp: 99.7
Day 57 - 6/14/07- Morning Temp: 99.7 Evening Temp: 99.8
Day 58 - 6/15/07- Morning Temp: 99.4 Evening Temp: 99.7
Day 59 - 6/16/07- Morning Temp: 99.5 Evening Temp: 100.2

Day 63- 6/20/07- 12:36 am. Temp: 99.4.... 6:47 am. Temp: 99.5... 10:15 am. Temp @ Vets: 100.8...(I took Tif to the vet for she was so big and hadn't whelped yet, she checked her vaginally and said she could barley get a finger tip in so it could be anytime...Her exact Words: as soon as I get home, tonight or tomorrow but she didn't expect her to go past the next day)

Notice the Spike (100.8...It hadn't been that high in the 2 weeks of me taking her Temp.) in her Temp then how it lowered???

7:00 pm. Temp: 99.0... 10:54 pm. Temp: 97.5...

Day 64- 6/21/07- 2:51 am. Temp: 97.5.... 5:57 am. Temp: 98.3.... 9:27 am. Temp: 98.3..... Started pushing @ 10:20 am and our 1st puppy was whelped @ 10:44 am....She had 6 in this litter.

Hope this may help U in choosing to take U're gals temp. U need that Temp as a guide in helping U more then ever since U don't know when she is due. I would pay very very close attention to her Temp.

Keep in mind this is just a guideline and what my Tiffanie did with her Temps...Not all Yorkies temps are the same.

I wouldn't let her outside if she is very big..Tif stopped all outside activity and was house bound due to being so big...I didn't want her to loose any babies. Good luck and I wish U the best on U're whelping. Lee

Well still no pups... I have been checking her temp for the past 14 days and there was one time a week ago that it was 100.3 since then it has been between 97.1-98.9. I was under the impression that 97 was extremely close but you see we are still here waiting.. Yes I do lubricate the thermometer very well. She still has alot of energy and wants to be whereever I am. She is CONSTANTLY looking for food on the floor and will eat ANYTHING!! She has always been this way...I am going to check her temp again and then I got some chores to do but I don't see labor coming soon.. Will update everyone later...

I want to ask U some questions if U don't mind. I could read through all the post to see if they have been answered but I'm not (Sorry I just don't have the time as I'm bathing Yorkies)

How big is U're male U think she bred with?

How big WAS U're female before Breeding??

How big is she NOW with being pregnant?

Have U had X-rays done or ultrasound? If so what has it shown?

When does U're Vet say she is due?

I know it gets upsetting waiting until whelping day and yes if she is pregnant Mother Nature will take her course and U'll have Puppies....I just want U to take her Temp I'd say @ least twice a day and POST everytime U take it here on YT...There are MORE experienced breeders here that will know it's time...Trust me they have HELPED so very many new comers here U'd be suprised at how many they have helped... Also she will almost stop eating, it may be during the night as Tif did...So that's another sign and Tif was a very very big eater. Just allow her to do her thing, I know U're on stand by all the time and it is nerve wrecking...Do U know anyone who has helped whelped puppies before??? Maybe they could come help U and give U advise...Can U post pictures of her belly for me so I can try to see just how big she is??? I'm just trying to help U out. I hope it's soon for U...Holler if U need anything more. U're in my thoughts. Lee

I just wanted to clear this up...I looked on my website and seen this so please excuse the mistake I made with our Vet. Lee


I took Tiffanie to our Veterinarian on Day 50 of her pregnancy. I could tell by the way she was getting so big she was going to have more with this litter. Our Veterinarian said she was going to have 6 maybe 7 puppies. So from Day 50 until the day she welped I kept her off our couch and outside. I took her back to our Veterinarian on day 63 of her pregnancy for another check up and she said she didn't feel any puppy in the birth canal but she was in the 1st stages of whelping... I said in my other post: "She could barley get a finger tip in so it could be anytime." I was so excited to hear this. That night I noticed Tiffanie getting into her whelping box and digging around in it, I took her temperature on and off all night long and by 5:57 A.M. it was at 98.3 and stayed there until she whelped our 1st puppy.

Amanda I know this has really got to be hard for you!!!! I really hope this comes really soon for you!!! I guess since my guess has come and gone I will make a new one...I think she will start around 7pm Friday, May, 9 around 9pm and I am still going stick with 3 puppies. Good luck girl! I can't wait to see when you post that she is having them and I know alot of others that are waiting also!!! TedandTif you are such a great help and so supportive! I pray that she will have a nice and easy labor!!! We are relaly going to go grab the popcorn, margaritas, and ALOT of goodies when this labor starts!!! We need webcam so we can all watch...now that would be AWESOME!!!!! We could do it for every labor!

Hahahaha, I thought the same thing! But maybe revising her guess list every half hour is keeping Amanda sane!! It's not like she can GO ANYWHERE until these pups are born next month. Oops!

But since it really will be tomorrow night, it won't matter... I'll still win because I want to donate my prize back to the proud mama and exhausted grandmama and those three cutey patootey puppies.
