I would not say that there is a HUGE difference in the Biewer and that parti colored Yorkie. There are differences in the fact that, yes, the Biewers are suppose to have specific markings and the parti does not (however both carry the piebald gene). Another difference is that the parti Yorkie is eligible to be AKC registered and the Biewers cannot be.

I also do not agree with the statement of, "It is a really easy color to achieve, and the standard coloration of yorkies, with the metallic looking hair, is much more difficult to achieve. That's why you won't see a good breeder selling Parti Colored yorkies.". This is only my opinion,though....I happen to know great breeders that raise the parti.

Hopefully a Biewer breeder will come along to confirm or correct From what I understand a splitter is the results of a Biewer and Yorkie being bred. Their puppies are called splitters (The ones with the biewer look may be different I'm not sure) When a Splitter (looking like a yorkie) is bred to another of the same they will produce biewers. I'm not sure but this is how I understood it.

Splitters are created by breeding a Yorkie to a Biewer. Splitters look like Yorkies.

When Splitters are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers or more splitters.

When Biewers are bred to Biewers, they produce Biewers.

Parti-yorkies are AKC registered. Biewers are not registered with AKC.

Keeping it simple...

Both are tri colored dogs (blue/black, tan and white) that carry the recessive piebald gene. They are the same dog except for a few differences --

Biewers originated in Germany, developed by Mr. Biewer. All Biewers can be traced back to his two traditional colored yorkies, Fru Fru von Friedheck and Darling von Friedheck, dam and sire to the first Biewer puppy.
That is what seperates them from a parti yorkie that can look just like them...the lineage.

Biewers have their own breed standard but parti yorkies do not (they may one day). So Biewers must have four white legs, a white chest, tip of the tail and white on the face. If not, it is a fault.
Parti yorkies can have the white coloring anywhere.

Biewer's tails are undocked and parti yorkie's tails are docked.

That's it.

Since my Yorkie is show quality and my breeder wanted me to show her, I'll let you know about AKC registration rules. NO WHITE allowed AT ALL on Yorkies. If someone is breeding for the fun (Which you should not be doing) I guess you would do it. But cannot be registered with AKC as anything with White.

My 3 yr old baby was bred to a lovely male and will have her puppies the end of this month. I'm so excited. I used to breed Black and Silver Min. Schnauzers. Yorkies is a different story cause they're so small.

I can't show you where on the AKC website but there are members on YT that own AKC registered parti yorkies. You can do a search and find threads that discuss them.

YES, parti colored Yorkies ARE allowed to be AKC registered. This is only if both parents were also registered, of course. There is a different code for the tri color for the registration form. Now, the parti cannot be shown, but can go into the confirmation ring.
