Nutrical does give them strength and energy during whelping. I usually give them small amounts between puppies. The Calsorb is use to strengthen and help with contractions. I have never used it during whelping but I have it on hand just in case I need it. Calsorb can cause the female to start vomiting.

What is the Karo Syrup for? & how much do you give and how often.

If the mom starts vomiting during labor or prior to labor the Karo syrup (corn syrup) helps settle their stomach. I just add about a teaspoon of karo to 1/2 cup of water and let them drink it or give with a syringe.

And what about the whelping pudding? I know theres' a reciepe for it here somewhere but don't know where. What is it used for? How much and how often do you give it?

I have never used whelping pudding but I have seen it posted on here many times. I will probably try it next time I have a litter.

You are right, I don't have any Albon, and am not sure what it is. I'll have Ruby's stool checked when we go for tail docking tomorrow. Thanks.

I'd never used whelping pudding before this litter, and Ruby really like it. I give it to her every day now with her crushed up Pet-Cal.

One night I was feeling a little blue, so I had some too. I think I felt better.

I just bred a little female and when the tie ended a lot of bright red blood came out of her. She is still bleeding after 10 minutes... like a heavy period.

Any ideas or what to do? She doesn't seem to be in any pain. gum color is good, red, not pink.

Help please.

I have had some do that before. If it is still a little early in her heat cycle she may still be bleeding but you might not have noticed it. You might just be seeing a lot of the sperm fluid mixed with her blood from her heat. I guess it is possible she could have tore something inside so just keep an eye on her. Most likely it is nothing to worry about.

Did he or she still try to drag the other?
I cant find anything on this
I'm just thinking that has to be the only thing.
That somehow she was injured.

I thought this too first thing..
I've seen that with sperm mixed with a bit of blood .
Then I went back to read and it said bright red blood.
Hopefully it will just pass soon.

It seems to be slowing down, but if you push on her pooty it gushes a 2" circle of blood. Bright red.

No problem with the tie, and we can't see any source for the blood. Trying to decide if we need to go to the emergency vet 30 minutes away.

I also did some searching and found one reference that said some females experience heavy vaginal bleeding during estrus. Hopefully that is all it is.

i would probably call the vet and see what they suggest.. mostly justbecause i have no experience with this and it doesnt seem like many other do either

I wouldn't worry...I've had them to bleed several times after a tie before. You probably just bred her a little too early. I don't mean to be graphic but you just simply unstopped her... lol

If she doesn't seem in pain then there is nothing to worry about. Is she acting normal and eating/drinking? If so then just take a deep breath. It's probably nothing.
