I've never heard of whelping lasting that long..Labor yes..
As far as whelping I've seen pups be born...one right after another...
Ive seen them have a couple (like Allie ) then have more after a bit of a break.
Or like Nala with the first litter of seven..
She had 4 over about 3 hours..then went 3 hours resting and had 3 more
Last time the 7 were boom boom boom.
No change in Nala

Tnyorkiemom 04-15-2008 05:48 PM

sorry used the wrong words........how long is the longest you have ever had a labor and delievery (whelping) last.....there....................is she having contractions yet?

pebbles x-rays are tomorrow morning bright an early! (8:30) ill update after.

hope you get some sleep tonight!

DorkyYorkies 04-15-2008 06:59 PM

Temp is back up to 100.4 tonight. No babies for us tonight :thumbdown I just KNEW it would be tonight. I took a nap and everything to get prepared and now nothing!!

katelin 04-15-2008 08:07 PM

Ruby is back up to 99.8 and has been in the 98-99's all day since that really low temp this morning (96.9). If her temp was down all night last night we could still go tonight. But who knows.

Just in case, I've made my whelping pudding and given her a little taste to make sure she likes it. She does. The liver remedy is in the fridge, I have milk substitute, I have Benebac, I have dental floss, I have colored ties for the puppies, all the towels and pee pads and blankets are lined up, and the heating pad is plugged in (but not on). I couldn't be more ready....now if only she had the same mind set. :p

Let's hope we all get a good nights sleep and have those babies tomorrow. Good night and good luck everyone.

Ok I am starting to wonder about this, are you finding that all her low temps are in the mornings? If it came back up labor should be apparent by now for that to be her pre-whelp temp drop.

Did she poop before you took it this morning or after...I know it is gross but sometimes you can get a false reading...what we call a "poop temp" LOL if there is some in the way.

It is still early for her to deliver...so I am sure all is well.

Ewwwwww... I actually thought of that and wait for the morning #2 before I check her temp.... I am finding that her morning temp is lower than her evening temp on a regular basis... but she hasn't been below 99.0 except once. It is just like waiting for my own kids... I wanted to pull my hair out the last two weeks waiting and wondering = )

Good luck everybody. I have a feeling we are all going to be here in the morning with no puppies  stubborn girls!!!!

gardenyorkies 04-15-2008 08:42 PM

ROFLOL...They come when they are ready and not before...In the meantime they make sure we are all pooped out by the time they make their arrival!..Good luck everyone waiting for wee ones!

EmrldShdwQueen 04-15-2008 08:43 PM

Man...I was scrolling through ALL these pages today and HOPING that someone had babies by now...I'm getting anxious FOR you guys...hurry up babies!! ;):D

Thank you thank you thank you for all the prayers today!! They worked...:) Little Aidyn had become dehydrated yesterday, and blame it on my lack of sleep...that's the one thing I had forgotten to check for. Anyways, I got him in to be checked, they pumped him full of IV fluids (how depressing it was to see that tiny boy with a needle in him:() and gave him a shot of antibiotics. I fed him right afterwards, then again two hours later, and then the third time I went to feed him and he was already full!! :D So he's back to nursing BUT I am still tube feeding about every 4-5 hours just to keep him good and full all the time. His tummy is round and plump, and he's crawling around on his mama and sister like crazy. Those fluids were just what he needed to get a jump start again. That's one thing I'm keeping on hand from now on that I didn't have...a bag of fluids JUST IN CASE. Boy that sure made a difference in my little man! He's doing well again right now...but keep those prayers coming...they've kept him alive so far ladies!! We appreciate ALL the support we've gotten here in this wonderful FRIENDLY thread!! You are all wonderful and I am so grateful!! :D

We're keeping our fingers and puppy toes crossed for some of those babies to be born tonight!! :D ;)

Kayla's water sac broke around 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon, and she wasn't finished having babies until about 4:30 in the morning. :p

YIKES! That is a horror story! I guess as someone said, they come in their own time, no matter how much time it takes.

SOOO glad that Aidyn is doing better. You must be really tired by now with all those feedings. Keeping you in our thoughts. Have a good night.

I've noticed Ruby's temp is low each morning too. Thanks for the information, and I'll be sure to wait to check it tomorrow.

Lilly is fast asleep  Oh well tomorrow is another day :D Oh wait... it is tomorrow

I am so happy for him and you.DO not blame yourself for that though Nicki even if you had given it under the skin it may not have been enough and you would of had to take him in for a IV anyway.

Awwwwwwwww Nicki I'm so glad hes doing better.
He better stop giving us these scares.
Praying still for the lil guy

Been there done that with the bag of fluids at home.
Next time my vet told me she will show me how to use the ringers.
I had "puppy flu" one time with 6 week old puppies
I hate using the needles. But Aidyn is so tiny..I doubt you could even use ringers with tiny puppies like him. I dont know.

I'm glad things are looking up !!!

Tnyorkiemom 04-16-2008 04:23 AM

What does Miss Nala think she is doing?....waiting for the puppies to get big enough to crawl out on their own.....lol....poor baby....amybe we will have a daylight whelp
