| ![]() Thanks so much for your help, thoughts, prayers and condolences. This is Anne (mypreciouspups) I am here with Kathy right now. I got here to late, and I do not think I could have helped him in any way. Again thanks, apparently he was breathing and suckling. then just stopped. she was right here with the mom and babies and does not know what really happened, just that he stopped breathing. She worked for an hour and would not give up hope. I had to just say, let him go at that stage. |

| ![]() I am so sorry for your loss. Some things were just ment to be. God had other ideas for this little one. Maybe he needed a pup of his own. |

| ![]() I am just thankful mom and the other babies are doing well. I guess it is possible if he was nursing that he could have got milk in his lungs and choked. Please give Kathy a hug for us and let her know it is not her fault. I am glad you are there to support her. |

| ![]() I would like you all to please tell kathy what temp she needs to keep the room that the puppy's are in. I keep them in a separate room, keep the temp up high, she has it hot in the house but now has the whelping box in her kitchen afraid to leave them alone and away from her. I keep mine in a separate room, the rest of the house normal. that way we breath and live in comfort and the dog has a warm place for puppies.. I need/want you breeders to let her know in your words please. It needs to come from one of you. Please just explain the procedure to her, this is her first litter. thanks anne |

| ![]() Oh...this is just so sad. I'm so sorry for you and mom. I don't think we ever really forget those little guys who leave us too soon. We lost one puppy the day after he was born. That was 2 years ago and we still talk about little Valentino. So sad.

| ![]() I like to keep the actual room temperature around 78 degrees but my puppies always have a doggie heating pad that maintains a temperature of 100 degrees. This pad I put under the bedding in the whelping box and it just covers one half of the whelping box. You have to be very careful with regular heating pads because they can get too hot. I let them use the heating pad for 2 to 3 weeks depending on the outside temperature. Our house is on blocks so the floor can get really cold in the winter but not in the summer. The best way to tell if the puppies are cold is if they are huddling or not. My puppies usually aways spread out when they are comfortable and they huddle if they are getting a little cold. You can adjust the room temperature as they get a little older. |

| ![]() Also, I have to add that I do keep mine in a separate room. I have a little space heater to regulate the temperature in the bedroom where the mom and puppies are. It is less drafty also. I put up a small exercise pen and put the whelping box at one end and then food, water and potty pads. You can hang sheets on the sides of the exercise pen to cut out drafts and to give the mom more privacy. |

| ![]() Thanks, she has her whelping box in a playpen.. it is up off the floor.. the heating pad is under a thick towel.. the dog and puppies are just fine, but there are other dogs here as well.. kathy is doing very well, just needs to feel she has to have her in the family room with her since she lost the one baby.. I have a small computer/whelping room.. I have it at the right temp and i stay right in there, amuse myself on my computer.. when I get to warm I leave the room. I also use a heater to keep the room warm..but I hate sounding like a know it all to anyone. not my nature. just want her to hear from others..thanks again |

| ![]() I keep mom and babies in my bedroom for the first couple weeks. Away from the other dogs and its also the warmest room of the house. About 78-0r so.I also have a heater if it gets colder, for the first couple weeks depending on the season.. I also use a heating pad at one side of the whelping box. I like this because I can hear if they start whining, I pop up and check. It may be that one got away from the others or just that mama has one up by her neck or something and they cant get latched on. It makes for very little sleep that first week. ![]() But I know thy're safe and well
