| Question for breeders who ship.. How do you go about setting up a flight? How far in advance do you need to book a flight? Just browsing puppyfind (I'm gonna get myself introuble! ) and a lot of the breeders ship and I just never knew how it worked.. I don't think I could ever ship any live animal, let alone a tiny yorkie..

| i have only actually shipped one twelve week old puppy and he was on a direct flight to Boston. I also have shipped two teenagers and they did well. They went in Delta Cargo and were great when they arrived. I have hand delivered a few that rode in the cabin with me and my ticket for those trips so far has been less than my shipping costs. |

| Each carrier has different specifications. Some you have to book way in advance because they fill up quickly. Others will only let you book so many hrs. in advance. You go to their website, find the right number to call and call them. You can set it all up over the phone. It's not like booking a flight for a human.

| I have another question now... For those of you who don't ship, do you think it limits the possible good homes that are out there? I know from my experience, there isn't much to pick from in my state or neighboring states (I'm somewhat picky on the looks I want my yorkie to have) so shipping would be my next option... I'm terrified to get on airplanes, so maybe thats why some breeders frown on shipping in cargo?

| Considering our town's population is barely over 600 people... yes, it definitely limits the possible good homes. In fact, the last dog that I shipped, I wouldn't have wanted any other home for her than the one she got.

| If I buy from a breeder that isn't close enough to drive to I'll most likely fly to pick up the puppy and bring it back in the cabin with me.

| My last one was shipped, and came in perfect condition..They had one lay over, but the breeder(out of MI) had the little water thing stuck on the side for them to suck water out if they needed it, and had the crate fixed up really nice for them..If I ever get another one, I will most likely go through the same breeder again...She's got 2 litters due anytime now on one, and the other in about a week, but, I don't think hubby is going to let me get a 5th inside dog right now.. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | If there is a direct flight, I try to work something out with the buyer to meet me at their local airport or mine. Each Airline has their own restrictions and requirements; usually you cannot book a flight for shipping until it is a week before flight because of temperatures outside. Most of the time, I would prefer a buyer come pick up their puppy from my house but I know that isn't always workable. |
