| I've never used the floss either, I've never had to. I either shred the cord myself, with my nails, or I hold it and let mom do it. I have used sepic powder if there is bleeding but most of the time I use iodine. Petedge has a new clotting gel that comes in a syringe that has antimicrobial properties as well and I'm going to order that and use it on my next litter. Never use alcohol as it is an anticoagulate.

| I've never used floss. I clamp with a hemostat and then cut with dull scissors. I am also going to look for the clotting gel. I think it could be beneficial for many things.

| I could not find unwaxed dental floss when my pups were born either! Trust me, it is MORE trouble than it is worth anyway. I ended up using thick sewing thread and iodine. I am using something different next time. |

| Clamping works wonders...I do not like to put anything on their cord other then betadine. We will tie if needed so always have it on hand...but they generally fall off anyways...so we clamp it or a few minutes while we are getting the puppy dry!
