| How is mom doing? How many is she going to have? I think that the room temp should be b/w 78-80 degrees, that is what I have read anyway. Where is she having them? Is it on the floor? |

| birthing now hi thanks for replying thought no one was on. the room is warm, ive turned up the temperature, mum is in her bed in my bedroom, she is doing well, keeps jumping out of the bed when the placenta comes, and then jumps backinto the bed, noticed pups were quite cold to the touch, so put them near her on furry blanket. Think she may have 6 as she is still quite big! |

| Until mom finishes delivering, keep the pups warm. I have gently swaddled new born pups in a nice soft blanket and then put them under my shirt next to my skin to help retain body heat until Mom was finished delivering. If you try this, BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that the mouth/nose area are free from all obstructions so that they can breathe. If mom gets distressed because you move the pups, then let them snuggle next to your hand for extra body heat. |

| Hi and congratulations on thew puppies so far. You are doing a good job. It is extremely important for the pups to stay warm. The first week, the temp should be 85 degrees where the puppies sleep. If you need to, you can place a blanket over top of the whelping area to keep the heat in. Or use a heating light bulb to help watm them. If they are cold to the touch it is imperative to get them warm as soon as possible. If they are cold and they eat, they will get an upset tummy. WARMTH WARMTH WARMTH is what you want to subscribe to at this time. A light blanket or towel warmed in the dryer will help until you can get the heating pad working. Good luck on the remaining births. If momma doesn't want to stay with the babies you will need to lay there with her to make sure she stays. Sometimes new mom's just need a few days to learn to be good mom's. If she is still having babies, it might be a good idea to place the babies in a basket with a warmed towel in it while she has the next, them place them back with mom in between the births. Be sure and ask if you have any more questions. We are here for you. Sonya
