| Is it necessary to register if neutered? This may be a dumb question, but, since Scooter has been neutered and no chance of breeding him, should I register him anyway? If I don't, will it cause a problem for the breeder? I want to do the right thing. I figured you guys would know. Thanks! |

| No, you don't have to. I personally do like to register my pets just because I'm able to. I also like to have a copy of their pedigree. Doesn't really matter since they are just pets, but I just like having it. One thing about registering your dog, is that it is proof the dog belongs to you. If someone tried to claim your dog was theirs you have papers that say otherwise...and DNA testing could be done to prove it the papers belong to the dog.

| I always have mine spayed/neutered and I don't ever send in their papers..I had a problem with AKC years ago, so, I have decided not to give them anymore of my money..the papers to me don't mean a hill of beans, unless you're planning to show or breed. |

| Having them registered shows you have proof that the dog is yours well for the most part...and you can do obedience and other things with AKC if that is something you would be interested in. I've started watching the Obedience classes at the dog shows and I'm so amazed! It's cute to see a yorkie in the obedience ring! Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
