My vet neuters at 4 months! I do consider her a good vet. Most of her colleagues do the same. I agree not all yorkies are good around children. Mine are socialized but shy away from noisy loud kids!! |

We had Tiffanie was our largest Yorkie being 13.2 lbs. at the time she was spayed 9/18/07 and it cost us $198.85!!!! Previox 57 mg.(her pain reliever for here at home I think): $8.75 Anesthesia (General): $38.00 Anesthetic Monitoring: $8.00 Pre-OP Panel SA: $48.00 Spay-Canine 0-30 lbs.:$58.60 Metcacam Per CC-Injectable: $7.50 Rabies: $13.00 Canine Vaxx Adult: $17.00 (She was due for her yearly shots and they assured me it would not interfere with anything being done with her!! And it didn't!) We also had to Pre-OP Panel this was up to us to have done and I wanted it done for it insures their kidneys will work proper & ??? they check for before they operate on her, they didn't want to get into the surgery and then something happen when this test could of told them before hand and maybe saved her life...So this test will be done on any Yorkies I ever get spayed/neutered in my home!!! Now lets see take off her shots and rabies shot and what is the total: $168.85 that is what it would cost (Oh I could leave out the pain meds for them at home and allow them to suffer on their own but I wouldn't put my babies through this!!) for ALL puppies leaving my home!! So that is a lot of money when out of 7 puppies that was adopted out at the price of $500.00 (NONE HIGHER) and some as low as $300.00 for everyone thought that they was going to be over 8 lbs. in weight and some of them stayed in our home until the ages of 5 to 6 months old due to their mommy being bigger and everyone thinking that they ALL was gonna be larger babies when full grown which didn't turn out to be true at all 3 has turned out bigger and the other 5 turned out 4 to 7 lbs...So I'm adopting them out so cheep and just because I say cheep doesn't mean they are bad Yorkies or unhealthy Yorkies I mean due to their mothers size (Another reason they are on a spay/neuter contract to put a end to her line throwing larger babies & why I had Tiffanie spayed in the 1st place!!) all was and still are 100% healthy not a trouble one out of 10 babies or their parents!!! How can I afford to get them all spayed/neutered before they leave our home??? And our Vet will NOT touch them to spay/neuter them until they are at least 7 Months old told me it was just to dangerous due to their small breed size!! Now we're not even talking their shots, vet checks, wormers, food and just basic supplies here at home for me to care for them and we NEVER allow a Puppy to leave our home until they are 12 weeks old even larger Yorkie babies either!!!!This is just my thoughts tho as a breeder of adopting puppies out at a lower price. So once again no there's no money to be made!!! |

Then why do you keep putting the poor mothers through this????? |

We were fortunate enough to have gotten a rescue Yorkie that was as healthy as a horse! He was such a hearty little guy and weighed only 5 lbs. 4.5 when he first came to us. Unfortunately, we lost him on Jan. 2 when he was hit by a car. I will never forgive myself for letting it happen. My point is, I have no idea what his background was, where he came from or even exactly how old he was, but he was the friendliest, healthiest, sweetest little man that I've ever had the pleasure of being owned by...other than my flesh and blood son ;) He didn't cost us a penny. We're in the process of buying a Yorkie now from a breeder. I read about all the illnesses here and scares me to death! I never had that fear with Peanut. I hope I'm not jinxing myself. |

In the medical field, as in any profession you will find individuals that run the gamut from adequate to fabulous. It saddens me when blanket statements are made for an entire group. It was often one of the Doctors that hugged me when my son had once again taken a turn for the worse, or that would call me at 11:00 at night to make sure he had fallen asleep, or that cried with me when they wheeled him out of PICU and let us take him back home for the final time = cured. So, these same people that you say are ONLY in it for the money certainly showed me that often they are in it with their hearts... |

I'm glad that you do all you do more power to you! I couldn't do all that and devote time and energy to raising my show dogs and go to shows. But again, I'm entitled to my opinion! Donna Bird Brookynn's Yorkshire Terriers Donna Bird Brookynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

But, this isn't about my son. This is about the idea that there are some extremely qualified people that go into the medical field. These same individuals often go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis. And for that I am eternally grateful! If the Doctors in your area aren't meeting your satisfaction, perhaps you might choose to travel to an area that will meet your needs when required. |

My boy has no time to do anything!!And neither did she all their free time was studying or working at his job,he has no time anymore to play his favorite computer game which he complains about. He is either in school studying or working |
If you don't like what I have to say and how I practice or what I believe in then you have the power to ignore my posts. I did state whether it be right or wrong in "your" eyes its the way I do things and the way I see it it's right for me and that is all that matters. You dont have to seek me out as a breeder doesn't matter to me. I place my puppies with whom I want and feel comfortable with. I don't agree with many on YT but I do handle myself in a professional and ethical manner and I do expect to be treated as I treat others but I know that's sometimes impossible. Like me or not it's still my choice as how I practice and believe. Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
Swimmom, I agree with you! I'm gonna give you a piece of advice...I've learned on this list you just can't convince some and then there will be some you can...You have an amazing son and I admire your family! He will succeed in the medical field and that's all that matters. Dont' let anyone rain on your parade Just like I was told I was riduculous for not putting a yorkie puppy with small children no use arguing not worth it No use getting into a pissing contest. Ya'll are Crazy! LOL ... I think sometimes we need someone to disagree with and jump at a chance to argue/debate... even if what we are talking about is repeated over and over...... and over. Gotta love YT! |

I couldnt do all that I do and devote a ton of time doing the dog show scene either, although my parents did with dobermans when I was little, and raised and showed Arabians here and in Canada while I was growing up. I dont show though, so I guess that makes a big difference. Although we are bottle feeding our newborn goat right now that is going to be shown, its totally not nearly the amount of work as a showdog. |

LOLOL....you all, this thread has got sooooo far off topic, I had to read the title again, just to be sure. I was guilty of taking it OT also. How did it get from do breeders make money, to whether or not doctors listen to patients? That's a rhetorical question, btw.;) |
