I'll say this...I am not opposed to someone making money. My concern will be solely limited to purchasing a puppy from someone whose breeding program entails everything I am seeking. Will I pay an additional amount to obtain it...yes and fully expect to.

I agree to some degree YT offers a false sense of security. Comes to back to....the same lecture....know your breeder.

Wish I knew how to just break even LOL but it's almost impossible since I'm not a puppy factory and only have "maybe" one litter a year LOL.

question here,,what type of breeder would be USDA licensed and WHY? and please,, if you can help me find a reputable show breeder I could buy an AKC female with full registration from,,I'd SO love that,, i hunted for several years and got astronomical pricing,, i'm talking $6K to $10K for a 12 week old puppy! so if you can point me in the right direction I'd LOVE IT!! always room for one more in my home and heart!
as for breeders,, i've yet to find ONE i totally agree with on everything,,

as for readers here,, lol I agree ,, Interesting Reading!!

There is the problem-- I think it's fairly safe to say you will NEVER find a reputable show breeder willing to just sell you a girl on full registration, no questions asked. It's just not going to happen. Reputable breeders work long and hard to get where they are and are not willing to just hand over their hard work over to a stranger.
Your best bet is to attend some shows. Introduce yourself, explain your goals and ask for help and guidance. And take the initiative to educate yourself as much as you can without waiting on them. (Not that you are not/have not already.)

I know USDA requires dogs to be in a seperate building. They are also categorized in clubs as commercial breeders and won't be accepted. Many people automaticaly scream puppymill. Many puppymills are USDA licensed. But that's painting with a very broad brush. I'm against stereotyping period even in the yorkies world. There's always someone or a group that'll prove you wrong.

I can ask $1500 because the local pet stores are selling yorkies for 23 to 25 hundred with NO PAPERS or history. I will get that price, everyone wants a little Mya. She is so mellow. I am lucky that I found a Sire that has the same no need to bark attitude.

I wouldn't doubt that coming to this site will and has made "some" become breeders...because they think there is a buck to be made and friends to be had. I am just as offended by people who decide to breed thier pet just because they can, and wonder what they are thinking

People have been begging me for puppies for 2 years. She is one popular Brampton, Ontario dog *big smile*

LOL.. How many pet stores are out there. I see that you're in Canada? I believe there is no pet stores in Austin (because of some type of law) so I never been to one.

I'm just glad my thoughts were able to get out there and many people will be able to see and think twice about a breeder. Just because they are friendly and people refer then, it doesn't mean that they are good. Most referrals happen after they just get the puppy and not after a while. When ever some one refer someone they should include 'so far' first. lol

Yes I'm glad you were able to get this off your chest so to speak, and am guessing there is a story behind your concern, and I agree I hope people are careful.
