| Upset with breeder and maybe I shouldn't be, I'm not sure. I was first in contact with a breeder in my area, on Jan. 5, who was expecting puppies the end of January. As soon as the puppies were born, we sent in a deposit and she replied with an email that said we got first pick of the girls. Just last week she tells me that she has taken a deposit on one of the girls. Not just any of them but one inparticular. I let it slide and she told me that from here on out, she would contact me if anyone showed any interest in a particular puppy. I looked at her website this morning and she has received a dep. on 3 of them and one is on hold. She has pictures of each of the puppies that have dep. and the one that is on hold! It says there is one availble girl left. and one boy. I emailed her and asked her what is going on. I'm supposed to go see them in person this weekend but I don't want to pick one so soon, because I'm sure they will change and I've heard that if their bite is off, that won't be noticeable until around 8-12 weeks. I don't expect her to hold them all for me but she shouldn't have told me she would give me first pick if she's not going to. How do the breeders here handle "first pick"?

| Hi, I'm sorry, I forgot to write you about it. Things have been really busy. I have had two deliveries and one was C-section. I did get one deposit in the mail yesterday for a girl. I sent her pictures and she picked. Trust me on this, the one she picked is not the one you want. She is bigger then the little girl that you were leaning towards and not nearly as pretty. The little one that I think you will want is not up there at all. The one on hold is for a lady that wants to come from Indy to look but she won't be coming until next week. If you like her better, I can email her and let her know. When I said you get first pick, you do but it may not be in person and you were having difficulties with it from a picture. I'm sorry but I have to sell the puppies and take deposits when someone wants to put down a deposit. We do take deposits from pictrues. When you see the little girl that I set aside for you since you were leaning towards that one, I think you will be most pleased. If someone would come here in person, she would be their pick - I guarantee it because she is the smallest and cutest. You definitely don't want the one with the white bow up there. She is the largest and most certainly not the cutest. Anyway, let me know your thoughts and all I can do is say I'm sorry but if you would trust me on this about the little girl you were leaning towards, I feel confident you will be very satisfied. Thanks, This is her response. I have never said I want the smallest one....ever! As a matter of fact, I told her size was not an issue! I do understand that she "needs" to sell the puppies, but she has done this to me twice now. I'm almost thinking of asking for my deposit back. What are your thoughts on this?

| If you're going to see them, and you were supposed to have pick of the litter, then, find the one you want, and if she won't let you have the one you want, then tell her you want your deposit back. |

| I would go see the girl and if she's not the one you want then ask for your deposit back and go elsewhere. She told you that you would get pick of the litter and apparently she is doing the picking for you, so if you are not happy I would think she would give the deposit back Was it non-refundable? |

| All very good advice. I'm just very heartbroken right now. We've planned everything around this time line. We are fencing in our backyard and the puppy was to come to us in early Spring. All perfect timing for potty training, going for walks, etc... I know I'm whining, it's just so dissappointing. Ya know, even if I went and looked at the girl she picked for me, who's to say that it will be the one I want when it's 8 weeks old? I'm actually scared to get the smallest one. I lost my Peanut in January and I can't go through that again. (Peanut's size had nothing to do with his death) I just don't think she understands what it means to give her word and stick to it. Not sure I want a puppy from someone like this. Yes the deposit is refundable. I think I'll still go see them and get a feel for how things go and take it from there......Heck, I don't know. I'm afraid I'm letting my emotions rule over good judgement.

| I am sorry such an exciting time is turning a very stressful one, I think things will turn out for the best, just go with your gut instinct...if you don't have a good vibe from the breeder and you think she 's picking the puppy for you just get your money back and start looking for a new puppy.

| I think that if I were you I would try to get the deposit back and find another breeder. Point blank--you had an agreement...she broke it and didn't hold up her end of the deal. |

| yes, get your deposit back. If I tell someone they are going to be able to get 'pick of the litter", they get to choose their puppy right after I decide which one I am holding back for myself. Before anyone else even sees them. I have all kinds of people on the list for the litter I am expecting. I have told one lady she can have pick of the litter on females but everyone knows that I am keeping mostthe females BUT if she only has two, those are mine. | She sent me some pics of the puppy she has in mind for me.... GREAT! Now I'm in love She has apologized profusely and offered my deposit back. We've decided to go visit them this weekend and see how we feel after that.
