Oh don't feel that way...you are not the only non-breeder posting on this thread...along w/ people who don't breed and people learning about it. You're opinion and views matter just as much as everyone else's. You have no idea how much breeders appreciate dedicated, loving pet owners like yourself--you are part of the 'big picture' too.:)

Thanks i just don't want to step on anyones toes. Because honestly i know nothing about breeding at all and really do not ever plan on doing it. I just know i love my babies and support anyone breeding to make them healthier :). And not to mention i have the foot in the mouth syndrom lol. I know i can say things sometimes then turn around and think oh crap i shouldn't have said that or said it like that  . No worries i wasn't going to go off the thread because of anyone here. I was going to get off because of myself i tend to run at the mouth sometimes  .

And you are again right doesn't matter how much we argue over it some just won't listen to good advice either and that is why yorkies are #2 in the most popular standings because of supply and demand and with supply and demand comes badly bred animals no matter what breed it is!
Please do not take this personally LOL....I just try and educate as much as possible.

So true and it makes me so  and also upsets me very much that this happens:( I just can't even think about it or it makes me cry:( Out of those puppies that were rescued from Mitchell well some that were bought prior had cranial malformation :cry8:

Well then you have more in common w/ some breeders (like me) than you think then!:p Toes are often stepped on here...then you just back off, taking a running start and stomp on the whole darn foot in some instances...lol.

Brooklynn 02-21-2008 07:43 AM

From what i have read and learned so far the poorer bred the worse health problems the poor little things have :( So i am all for stoping that completely! Good luck with the continuing success it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job:)

That's the point we are trying to make! Thank you for your compliments and I try to do the best I can and try and educate but sometimes it gets frustrating when I hear well it's my god given right to do whatever the heck I want to do UGH! Just because you go kill someone doesn't make it right in fact you will probably get a life sentence or even a death sentence. So breeding without doing research and studying pedigrees and doing health testing yeah it's your right not to do it but you are also taking the risk of giving a puppy a death sentence. Mary I didn't mean to take your positive post to vent LOL...again I appreciate your very nice comments and yes I do spay and neuter before a puppy leaves my home :)

Thanks i needed a good laugh to start my day off :p

BTW those out there just cranking the pups out for the money need to think about how they would like to be done that way. Would they like to lay tied to a bed and made to crank out babies every so many months until they are no longer able to do so? And then they are either put down or sent somewhere else to live because they are no longer useful. I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!! Sorry i get a little passionate about some things. I just think if the puppy millers where made to crank out babies they would think twice about what they are doing to these poor animals:mad:

You guys all make awesome points...but I just wanted to point out that although I do breed for pets, my puppies are excellent quality. But, for example, 3 out of my 5 females were bought with a contract that ALL puppies sold from them must be on limited registration, or a spay/neuter contract, or both. And there are several people on here who wouldn't have their babies without a pet breeder. I just feel that I'm completely separate from someone who does this all for money, or who is a volume breeder. I test all my dogs, they're all healthy, none of my pups have issues, and I offer a 1 year health guarantee (and I can tell you right now if something came up 4 years after I sold a pup I would probably still give them their money back). I too have a clause in my contract that states ALL puppies MUST be returned to me for a refund of all or part of the original purchase price. Like I said, all of my dogs are within the standard as far as weight and most other qualities as well. One might have a longer nose or bigger ears than the other, but all have nice toplines, a good earset, and have come back healthy in all tests. You can put whatever label you want on me, but I just don't feel I'm in the same class as a puppy mill or BYB who does it all for money. JMHO and I completely respect everyone's views. :)

If you do it responsibly then I have no issues. I just prefer you breed for show quality and not pet quality if that makes sense...that doesn't mean you have to show it's just that if it's worthy of an AKC championship then it's worthy to breed and a good representation of the breed. I only stated what I did when someone said it was their god given right to do whatever they want, that kinda irritated me LOL...From what I see you are not what I'd consider a byb but a hobby breeder and care for your dogs.

Actually, that's not true. A reputable breeder always includes a clause in her contract stating that if for some reason the owner can't keep the dog, it must be returned to the breeder. It's one of the hallmarks of a reputable breeder, the commitment to a puppy for life.

I have that in my co ntract. The only problem is that sometimes the breeder doesn't know until it is too late. I have been trying to find out where my first girl is for over a year and if I do, I am going to Virginia and repo her. It's been over a year and the buyer last said she was getting a divorce, going to school and no computer. phone calls go unanswered. I am almost to the point of going to her last known address and tracking her down. She was showing her in UKC but i don't know how that turned out either and she is a long time member here who hasn't been on for ages and ages. I will re-po my puppies in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!Problem is finding out where they are before it is too late.

I am sure there are others on here willing to help as well. Maybe even someone from Virginia that might be able to find out where she is for you.

Believe me, I have done everything I know to do. I googled until my fingers were almost raw. I finally did get thru to her answering machine and left a message. That was january 1st.
