| When Do You Breed???? I Have Had Many Years Experience Breeding Rotts. And We Wait Till They Are At Least 2 Years Old So We Can Have Their Hips Checked Cause That Is Normally When It Will Show Up, But How Long Do You Wait With Yorkies?????????????????????

| You should always wait until their second heat and they should be over 18 months old. Before breeding it is recommended that you have a bile acid test done and have their patella's checked. Also it is recommended that you do not breed Yorkie females that are under 5 lbs. |

| For me, between 18-24 months, depending on the timing of the heat. (Making sure that they are minimally 18 months, regardless to how many heats they have had--2 heats at 11 months is too young!) After the female has acquired adult characteristics and it is possible to tell if she (and the stud) is of a quality representation of the breed that should be bred. After all health screening has been done and the dog has been looked at by long time experienced breeders/judges w/ extensive knowledge regarding the specifics of the breed. |

BANNED! | It is best to wait until the second heat, but I also feel that it is equally important in their maturity to have and care for their babies to wait till 18 to 24 months of age. This also gives you time to do all the pre-breeding testing to make sure they are even good canidates for breeding. |
