| ![]() There is controversy in giving heartworm medicine, pros and cons. Here in Texas heartworms is a more serious problem but I know a lot of dogs that still get heartworms even though they are on the medication. There was a heartworm vaccination a couple of years ago that was recalled because it was actually causing a large number of deaths in dogs that had it. |

| ![]() That site has good information but they didn't say what your dog has to go through if it gets heartworm. They have to be injected with a type of arsenic more than once. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I have her on heart guard and she was due for another pill on the first but I have been holding off giving it to her so I can find out how safe it is for her to have it.....but I dont plan on taking her out of the house while she is pregnant, whelping, nursing...etc.

| ![]() Flotation is the test that is done to insure the there is no heartworm present before reinitiation the heartworm meds.

| ![]() Well, I talked to my breeder and she said she doesnt give heartworm meds while pregnant and she does give the medication but every forty days of so....
