| Hi! I am new to the forum and am looking for a yorkie in Texas or from somewhere that is willing to ship to Texas. I don't want to pay $1500 for my yorkie -- is that unreasonable? I'm hoping to find one from $500 - $800 or $1000 at the most, but since I might have to pay shipping too, would like it cheaper. Can anyone recommend a reputable breeder. I'm almost ashamed to admit I was considering getting one from Brushy Creek and having it shipped to me until I happened to be searching on google to find more info and came across these posts. I'm glad there are forums like this out there. Anyhow, now I'm very leary of getting a puppy without being able to check the home conditions. If someone knows a breeder very well, and can give good recommendations, I would be very interested. Thanks a million! Tara Last edited by tarawood; 03-29-2005 at 03:04 PM. |

| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Where in Texas are you? We live in Dallas and got our little one in Seagoville...we actually used the newspaper to find her and were really lucky, she was the nicest lady and answered all our questions, and we only paid $700...if you look and be patient, you will find what you are looking for...let us know what you find...

| Kristin -- I am located in Lubbock, TX, which does not seem to be "yorkie country" as I haven't seen any advertised in the papers in about six weeks, and those sold out before I could get one. I am willing to drive, but would prefer to drive only 3 hours or so (6 hours round trip) or to have her shipped. Until then, I will be patiently waiting (well, at least trying to wait patiently). Thanks for the kind words. I'll keep you posted on my search. |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Tarawood - I'm in Houston, TX and the one who posted that letter - I am SO GLAD it helped you - there are lawsuits against this breeder as we speak and the yorkie I saw was sooooo pitiful if I had the money I would have RESCUED it... not bought it - They were horrible there in Hockley and I was just sick to my stomach after seeing that poor puppy and reported it asap - It was bad enough that I called the cops also ..I wish I could help you - I really do - but I do know another member that may be able to help here and I'll see if she can come see this thread - Look for posts by Luvmypupster - she is a great help to people !!!

| I got Fred from a breeder that lives in Lewisville. It was only about 25-30 minutes away from Dallas towards Arlington. She's a great breeder and does it as a hobby because she is retired. She said she's been doing it for several years now and she seems like a great lady. They have a website at http://www.pupsnmore.com I was supposed to help them fix the site up a little bit but I haven't had the chance to get with them! The only thing that might "throwback" some people is that her dogs are APR registered, which to me doesn't really matter. Fred is great and she knows how to prepare them for a new home! Fred doesn't bark at night (not even the first night) because she slowly took him away from his litter and when I picked him up, he didn't see his litter or mom for 1 1/2 weeks. He has a great temperment and never had any problems eating when he got home. He warmed up the 2nd day he was there! When we brought him home, he immediately started using the pad. Don't ask me how, he just does it and I am sooo grateful he does! He's had a few accidents here and there. But his character is just absolutely adorable. I let him run around and then I went into the restroom and I had to use it. He ran in and sat there, so I didn't want to throw him out. I used the restroom and we went to play. After a few, he ran into the restroom and started peeing! From then on, if he ever ran into the restroom.. we'd chase him cause when he's there.. he'll do his business! That's the only place he has accidents at. So the breeder taught him well! Also, his ears were sticking straight up when we brought him home and they haven't drooped since. Personally, I love this breeder.. her name is Susan, and if I were to ever buy another Yorkie.. I would definately get it from her. |
