| Tell your vet this is a typical situation breeders face with whelpings. ..that way he can stop scratching his head over it. When it is a breech, which seems to be about a 50/50 toss with my girls...you grasp the part of the body showing with a dry clothe and gentle pull...this must be done by the breeder..no time to go to the vet... we have all had pups that we thought we would surely pull off their heads or legs..but time is important and they must come out or they suffocate...a breech is really no worse then head first if you are helping...next time just grasp gently and gently pull..and keep pulling until the puppy comes out..not all puppies pop out naturally... Best wishes Last edited by YorkieRose; 01-13-2008 at 10:32 AM. |

| I thank you all for your advice and condolences. I don't think I am going to try again though. We are planning to have her spayed. Just out of curiousity though, would it even be advisable to breed again after everything that happened. Also, she just turned 3, and I read that after that you shouldn't breed. Since losing her pup she seems to be okay, but doesn't want to be separated from us at all. When the vet was working on the pup right in front of her she had no interest in it at all. I don't think she really knows what happened but she still has "mommy instincts" and seems a bit confused. What should I do to help her through this? |

| Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I am so very sorry for the loss of your singleton baby girl. It is heartbreaking and so very hard to go through for both of you, but it is a sad part of life. I don't really know what you can do for your mama except to love her and give her all she needs from you til she gets through it. I've not had experiance with losing puppys at birth, but as long as she has you, I'm sure she will be fine. ((((((((((Hugs to both of you)))))))))))
