| Question on lines This question is directed towards breeders or people who know a lot about different lines. How do you find out the faults and strengths of certain lines? Even if you go to shows, you wont be able to see health issues. What lines are good and/or bad for producing what? Thanks to anyone that can help me |

| The best way I know to learn about different lines is to talk to the breeders of those lines. I watch and see what is on the show floor, which breeder has the most consistant appearance in their lines, which lines are closely bred and if not who are they outcrossing with. It takes along time to start to get a handle on it. I've spoken with breeders as far away as Canada who had the dog that was 5 generations back in my Connor's pedigree. Make a good friend of your breeder, they will be an excellent resource when studying your dog's line.

| Ok, I understand. I know that I am really liking the dogs from the Durrer Kennel. I just checked my email, its often slow and delayed. Thanks for the info, i am really anxious I will take my camera and try to get lots of pictures, unless its not allowed, im not sure. I am really excited to go and I hope I get to meet some good people! I love shepherds, so hopefully I will get to see a few there as well. I wish I could have made it out there today. |

| I'm sure Mary will be able to help you out. She worked with me in NY in Feb. helping me to get to know who is who, what is proper, and to develop an eye. You'll have a ball and you'll learn so much on this journey. Don't rush it, it's worth the trip. It's so much better to start out with what you really want than to start over later. Have a fantastic time and tell Mary HI for me.

| You might also subscribe to The Yorkshire Terrier Magazine. Also, if you can find someone to lend you the old ones you can see what produced what and look at type. |
