My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | ![]() well I checked in on her today and she said still nothing but she hasn't tried to hold her down. She said her male has made contact but as soon as he does thats when she yelps. She is flagging him and standing for him. Another breeder told her she may not be breedable. How could this be? She said her pelvic area may be too small? I had her do the 3 finger test and she said there was plenty of room. Her female weighs 6lbs. Oh and I was wrong - her girl is not 2. She's about 16 months old, and this is her very 1st heat. She felt she was mature enough to breed. She has bred before and knows the breeding age rules. (fyi) ![]() |

| ![]() If it were so simple all bitches with too small a pelvis would refuse the male..I think this has little to do with it...she is fearful, may be spoiled (I have had many) the bitch needs to be taken to an experinced breeder who is used to dealing with difficult breedings... I recommend a soft muzzle..most are able to calm themselves and stop yelping. I. also found it was good for stud service btiches, they felt intimidated and knew I was in charge. Almost without fail a dilation will calm a bitch...leave your finger in for a few minutes until she settles...it can take a few times. Do it out of the studs ear range..yelping can turn many off and some become too aggressive and produce more fear in the bitch. I bred early in the am or late in pm when it was quiet in the house... My vet used to call me to come and breed difficult bitches for him at the clinic..that is why I have lots of experince, plus all my own. PS..I am sure this all must sound not so pleasant to the pet owner.. but she must learn who is in charge. Last edited by YorkieRose; 12-09-2007 at 01:53 PM. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | ![]() Thanks Pat! I've passed on the info but since then she has had her male and female together and this time there was no yelp and her male did enter the female twice she said. She said that after the male was finished his thrusting though, both times as he got off her and what should have been the tye, the male slowly popped out! She said it happened 2 times. She then checked her girl again with a gloved pinky and this time she was able to insert the whole finger. Yesterday she said she was only able to get to the 1st joint on her pinky. Today is her day 11 and she counted the 1st day she saw blood as day 1. |

| ![]() At day 11 she may not be fully ready and they may just be warming up. Occasionally one of mine won't get down to business until day 14. You can get a pregnancy from an outside tie as well.

| ![]() I did not know the day..yes, I think it is a touch early for her also...she will soften more in the next day or two and a tie may be possible, if not tell her to hold the male against her for at least 5 minutes so he can not pull away...that should do it. |
