Daisy is in her first heat cycle and of course she is swollen. But, within the last 2 days she has been wanting to go out constantly. I mean, I get her back in and she wants to go right back out. She usually goes out no more than 8 times all day, and yesterday and today she has been out that many times before lunch. She pees every time even if it is just a little. I haven't noticed any discharge, except for the blood last week with her heat. Her pee doesn't seem thick in any way and she isn't running a temp either. Anybody have a female that has acted this way while in heat or should I take her to the vet? Thanks.

Hi - It is always a good idea to check with the Vet....My Yorkie Monica had a bladder infection a couple weeks ago...first time with any of my Yorkies in 25 yrs! There was blood in her urine though...The vet will need a urine sample in order to diagnose and treat her properly so it is best if you can get that to take with you...Monica had to spend the night at the vets office to get the sample $$- The strange thing is the only symptom she had was the blood - we have 4 Yorkies and they usually only use the pad for emergencies when we are gone - We could not tell who had used it so we just had to wait for each one to have to go and then check each with a tissue. It also could be her heat ...been through that too - she will want to go outside alot when she is ready to mate..Still won't hurt to give the vet a call to make sure. Beth

Thanks. I took her to the vet last Wednesday and he said that he didn't think that she had a bladder infection, but being in heat she might have had cyctitis. So he put her on some antibiotics.
