Daisy is 10 weeks old now and just had another visit to the vet for boosters and last month she weighed 3.4 lbs and this month she weighed 5.4.
I couldn't believe that she had gained that much. I feed her Puppy Chow, which is what the breeder was feeding her, 3 times a day. Any ideas on how to slow her weight gain without raising the risk for hypoglycemia? And any pointers on getting her to stop biting on me and my skin babies so much? We have tons of toys for her and encourage her to chew on those, but for some reason she would rather chew on us. Thanks.

![]() | You can try to cut down on the amount that you feed each time, gradually of course. As far as chewing on you, she may be teething which is uncomfortable for her. Try a stern NO! each time she tries to chew on you, and then try to give her an alternative, be it a soft plush toy or a chew rope after you say no. Good luck! |

![]() | Did your vet say that your puppy is getting overweight? My puppy is the same age and is 2lbs even and I think he's way to skinny but my vet keeps telling me that he is fine. He eats kibble twice a day sometimes three times if he wants it, but if he doesnt eat it for a third time then I usualy give him a snack, something like green beans, cottage cheese, or even yogurt |

![]() | My 2 lb ( 5 1/2 month old) Yorkie has issues with hypoglocemia too b/c of her small size and I feed her wet food ...2 - 3 times a day...1 TSP each feeding with some dry food available at all times and I put Corn syrup (Lily white) in her drinking water....this has made a tremendous difference...There is a great product that I use as well called EnerCal...google it...you can purchase this thru California Vet supply in a 5 oz tube...great stuff! As for biting..we had a major problem with that and I taught her "no bite" each and every time she tries...(with the whole family doing the same thing)....we say wrong..no bite and give her a toy she is allowed to chew on and walk away from her. So far this is working.... Good luck! |

![]() | No the vet didn't say that she was overweight, but she is only supposed to be 7 or 8 pounds full grown and being that she is only 10 weeks, it looks like she is going to surpass that by far. |

![]() | I was told to feed 3 times a day until she was between 6 and 9 months old and then to cut down to 2 times a day to prevent hypoglycemia. But check with your vet and see about it, maybe they can give you some nutrical or something like it to prevent the hypo and keep him from gaining so much weight. I am going to ask my vet this week when I pick up Daisy's Revolution treatment for the month. |
