Not a REAL dog?

Eddie had his first solo therapy dog visit today. It was at an assisted living home. Lots of elderly. Many with Alzheimer's.
He did great and confirmed my hopes that he'll be good a this. We visited about 20 people in an hour, and he showed no signs of burnout.
The thing I love about this is there's always one highlight that leaves me all warm and fuzzy about the volunteer work. Today, it was a woman who spoke in whispers.
When she first saw Eddie, she didn't exactly embrace him. She said "We used to have REAL dogs. Sled dogs."
I smiled and laughed it off. We talked for a while about her "real" dogs.
Afterward, I ran him through a bunch of tricks in front of a group. When I looked at her, she was smiling and said, "He knows a lot of tricks."
Imagine that, a woman in an assisted living home learns a new trick. Little dogs rock!
