Eddie has intestinal lymphoma :(

Here's a Facebook post I just made that needs a home here on Yorkietalk, where my love of Yorkies found a home and remains my favorite place to find kindred spirits:
First of all, thanks everyone for your genuine concern and kind words about Eddie. The love you’ve put out for our little man fills our hearts and bolsters our strength.
The cause of his dietary struggles over the past three months has finally been diagnosed: Through an ultrasound by Dr. Walton, a board certified internist who visits Pet Emergency Treatment and a subsequent tissue sample that was reviewed by a pathologist in Seattle, he has large cell, likely high-grade intestinal lymphoma. More tests are being done now on the aggressiveness, but initially they suspect the less aggressive of two types, or B cell.
Our original thought was this was the end, no arguing with cancer, especially not for a 14-year-old Yorkie. Above all, we do not want him to live in pain for our own selfish reasons. But after deep discussions between Kelly and I and the staff at Pet Emergency, we've decided to bet on Eddie and take a chance that we can relieve the pain with chemotherapy. We're under no illusions that this is going to cure him, but we're setting out with the hope and understanding that we can give him a few more painfree months, maybe a year. We owe him that. If it turns out the pain is not abating, we'll re-evaluate.
We’ve also contacted Dr. Kathy Doty, both on the advice of Dr. Walton and from a friend whose poodle Dr. Doty miraculously saved when the regular experts had given up. She uses Eastern herbal remedies, accupuncture other therapies to assist with the chemo and help heal on their own.
We have no idea how he's going to respond. This may very well be the end after all. But if we can get him even 6 months of a quality life, it's worth it to us.
I gave this news to a friend I made almost 14 years ago when I joined YorkieTalk when Eddie was a pup. Her heart was breaking for Eddie, and she said she realized she loved a dog she had never met. It's that love from her and all of you who have followed Eddie's considerable exploits over the years that gives us strength to get through this. Thanks for loving Eddie. It's made us better owners and made Eddie a better dog.
Let the fight begin!
