Jack and Rusty have come out of the closet

I always thought it was cute that Jack, my 4-pound Yorkie, and Rusty, my 50-pound Lab, got along. They sleep next to each other. Rusty sticks up for Jack. ...
But this week, I discovered why. They are gay. When I rolled Rusty on his back to put some ear drops in his ears, Jack took advantage and mounted him!
And Rusty didn't protest.
I have no problem with their decision. I was just surprised. I wonder if neutering is considered "safe sex?"
