Lacy is going to daycare for the first time tomorrow - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I am starting vet school on Monday, and we have orientation tomorrow and Friday from 8-4 or so in the afternoon (with no time to leave during the day). So Lacy is going to daycare for the next two days. A vet clinic here actually just opened up this new daycare and luxery boarding about a month ago - we went to the open house and it was nice. I think she'll enjoy playing with other dogs but I know she is really going to miss me. She is used to being with me pretty much all day every day. She'll be three next months and I've only been on one short vacation without her. I graduated from college in December and would only be gone a couple hours at a time during the day for classes and since then had been working full time at a dog boutique where she went to work with me everyday. She gets upset if I leave her just to go to the grocery store so I really think it's going to be hard on both of us to be away from each other most of the day now. I feel like a stay-at-home mom that is going back to work for the first time and leaving her baby LOL. Once classes start, I'll have lunch breaks during they day to come home and let her out. And she is still going to go hang out at the dog boutique I worked at with the owner and her yorkies a couple afternoons a week - plus some doggy daycare once a week or once every two weeks. I'm going to miss being with her all day though. Hopefully she'll do well at daycare tomorrow

well first Congrats on Vet School!!! what a perfect job for a dog owner!!

Layla is the same way.. we are ALWAYS together. she goes to work with me... and is always by my side. She has been going to day care for probably 6 months... a few days a month.... and at first she cried when i left her there at first and wanted me to pick her up and not leave her.... BUT it does get better.. as long as you can get out the door she will ahve a blast! the babysitter said after about 5 min of needing to be held she was in with the other dogs playing like she had always been there. But layla acted this way for the first few months... but NOW! she cries because we dont' get in the door FAST ENOUGH!!! and is never too excited to come home! so dont' worry.. she will have a hard time at first but she will start to LOVE it shortly!

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
