Jack & Eddie hate my new truck - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I can't believe I feel bad about this, but when I put the boys in my new (used) pickup for the first time, they didn't like the slick leather seats and they hated the between-the-seats console because it means they can't jump on my lap easily. I actually regretted buying the truck for a minute.

I have a carseat for the highway, but I typically let them run around on their own for trips around town. I suppose I can get some cloth seat covers. I just won't tell anybody I'm buying them for my dogs!

I gotta admit they look cute in the big truck!

Well heck, it is a Ford - no wonder they don't like the truck.

Should have bought a Chevy.

Nice truck!!! I bet they get used to it once they figure out how to hang on better. Maybe if you tuck a blanket in the seat real well that would help them.

LOL! You sound like my wife! I was all excited about it, and she burst my bubble when she said the neighbor (who knows more about trucks that I do about Yorkies) said the same thing as you!

Heck with all of you car snobs! They still look cute in my FORD!

Yeah, I thought of that too. Maybe put some Velcro on a blanket or towel and attach it to the plastic. It might be hard to conceal the intent of that, though. Everyone will know I went to all that trouble for the dogs.

Aww. I think they find the leather seats cold as well as slippery (I know I always thought they were cold - my ex had a car with leather seats. We got car seat covers cos he didn't like all the scratchs on the leather - may be you can get away with that more manly car-related story.

Or to resolve the Ford / Chevy dilemma you could get a sticker like - "my other car is a dog sled" (you live in Alaska - how hard can that be?) and then when people see those two adorable faces instead of a husky they'll laugh and laugh and laugh. My Ford (festiva 3-door hatch back - not a coool truck) has a sticker on it that says "give way to Holdens" (Holdens are the Kiwi equivalent of a chevy). PS in NZ we'd call that a "ute" short for "utility vehicle".

Sometimes in life we all make decisions that don't consider

the yorkie's comfort first. Don't beat yourself up over it. You are still a very good YorkieDad. I'm sure that there will be a reasonable compromise with the leather seats. Velcro a blanket down and if people ask, just

say:"I'm protecting the leather seat from.. (insert any of the following: moose, elk, eagle, hawk, bunny)" If you put their boots on will they still slip?
Love the truck.

(ok, can he hear us? we really need to get him into the 12 step yorkie program soon!)

They do look adorable peeking out. Nice truck, love the color. I never liked leather seats either. My husband always wants leather seats, but they are always either too cold, or too hot. I agree with Jack and Eddie, cloth is much more comfortable.

Maybe not liking your new truck, was their lst impression, but your boys will love riding in it because their Yorkiedaddy is the one driving it and taking them special places in it.

( Except maybe to the park to see the moose. )
