| ![]() We are traveling to Disney in less than one week. I have a boarding appointment for my baby at the local vet office. However, I am a nervous wreck. My husband is active duty military and we have no family in the area to babysit for us. I only have two options: 1. Leave her at the vet and worry about her being stuck in a cage all day 2. Take her to Disney with us (we found a pet friendly hotel) and leave her in the room all day. She is wee-wee pad trained, so leaving her inside the hotel room wouldn't be a problem as far as that is concerned. However, I'm worried about her having to spend 10-12 hours alone (traveling back to the hotel during the day just isnt' an option) in the hotel room. At least she could have the TV on and have free reign of the room and she would get to sleep with us at night. I can leave her toys, food, water, etc. But, what would I do when room service came in? Could I just tell the front desk about the situation? She isn't a barker, so that wouldn't be a problem either. Is it too much to expect her to spend that many hours alone, or is it no different than having to spend all day in a cage? I just dont' know what to do. Can someone with experience please give advice? Thanks, Heather |

| ![]() my husband goes on business trips often and me and poopy tag along almost everytime....I would without a doupt take my lil one with me. i'm a big worry wart and leaving them in a cage with strangers for that many hours/days sounds too difficult to do for me and for my lil one...even if they take them out to play. i'd rather leave her in the hotel room with toys and tv on and food and water out. at lease he's with you guys other times and most likely he will fall asleep once you leave for a while but at least at night you'll be together. you can also put the "privacy" sign up on the hotel door knob and they won't come in for cleaning... just in case just tell the front desk as well. some pet friendly hotels offer pet sitting for the day or spa treatments, that way he wouldnt be alone for most of the day... you should look into that. |

| ![]() Given those two options, I would probably opt to take the puppy with me. Oscar would just die if he was left at a vet for a week and couldn't see me and was surrounded by a bunch of noisy dogs (he hates the sound of dogs barking). If you've found a pet-friendly place to stay, then I wouldn't worry too much about housekeeping - I'm sure they're used to dealing with pets in the rooms - maybe just make sure that the front desk is aware that a dog will be in the room so that housekeeping doesn't leave the door open while they clean (so he couldnt escape) or leave a note in your room. If it were me, I'd probably tell them I didn't want housekeeping services while I was there, or tell them you'd only like it once halfway through the week - I wouldn't want strangers being around my dog while I wasn't there.

| ![]() I just spoke with my husband and it looks like Abbie will be going with us to Disney. We are going to take her play yard so that the maid can put her in it while she cleans. I'm going to leave a note and a tip so that she will be extra careful with our baby. At least Abbie will get some human contact during the day. The hotel doesn't normally allow pets but the manager is willing to make an exception for us since she is so small and pee pad trained. The hotel also offers babysitting services, so I'm going to ask if I can hire someone to walk or visit her during the day (even though she isn't a "human" child). If it doesn't work out, I can board her at the Disney Kennels for $6 a day. Disney....here we come! Thanks everyone. |
