| ![]() I've just been noticing that when Bentley gets really excited that he starts coughing but it only lasts for a few seconds. But the other night he was sleeping on my lap and he started like a snorting type thing like he couldnt breath. He was laying still like he didnt wake up and start streching his neck out or anything but it scared me! Is this normal? I know that in toy breeds they can tend to cough when they get really excited and theres nothing you can really do about it. I just wanted to double check that his coughing is normal. He has only done the snorting type sound once. |

| ![]() oh my gosh!! hunter does the exact same thing and it scares me to death. I took him to the vet and asked them about it. They said it may be an upper respiratory infection so i have him on an antibiotic. They also said that there is a chance it could be a collapsing trachea as he also does it when he gets really excited or drinks his water too fast. Sometimes in the middle of the night he will do this breathing thing where it sounds like he's hyper ventilating and i have to wake him up and calm him down. I would probably take him to the vet if it gets worse. Since Hunter's been on the antibiotic he hasn't done it except when he was choking on his water.! good luck!!! i hope your puppy is ok !

| ![]() Don't know about the coughing thing, but would have it checked out by a vet. As to the snorting type thing, probably is reverse sneezing. I gently rub Snoodles neck on each side, and it usually stops it. Your vet can tell you more. I know my Peke had the snorting thing a lot more than my Yorkie does. But one feels so sorry for them when it happens that we just have to do something! Pat |
