![]() So my pup just got neutered and the vet says he has to wear an E-collar (the cone) for 10-14 days that way he doesn't try to lick or bite his stitches. Its been about 4 days and I noticed that he won't use the potty with the E-collar on. I'm guessing its because he feels awkward. When I came home from a full day at work, I noticed that his pee pad was clean and he did not potty ALL day! This is definitely not good as I am away for 8+ hours. Have any of you experienced this? Any suggestions? When I am home, I remove the cone and let him move around, eat, and use the potty while making sure he won't lick his stitches. I cannot remove the cone fully without supervision. I just don't want him to hold it in whenever he's wearing the E-collar.

| ![]() Does he lick on the wound @ all? Since it's been 4 days since the neuter surgery, it should be well healed, so it should be ok to go w/out the e-collar.

![]() I do see him licking once I remove the cone to give him a break. I just dont want his wound to open up or get an infection.

![]() I used a onsie on my boy, but I was home to take him potty every couple hours, maybe try belly bands, it will cover the area plus absorbs pee. Or the have those soft collar numbers which are more comfortable.

![]() Did the vet give you a hard plastic cone? Gizmo hated it too and would not move around very much when he wore it because he would run into stuff and get stuck in weird places. If it is the hard plastic cone go to the local pet supply and see if they have the soft cones. They block so that they cannot lick but they are a malleable fabric so that they have more freedom and is probably a lot more comfortable. Maybe try that and see if he will use the restroom when he is wearing it. It might just be that the plastic one is too uncomfortable.

![]() Take it off when you are home and can watch him, Teegy never needed one but Tufty did. I would only put it on him when I wasn't around to watch him

The kiss-e collars are wonderful, has so many uses. I use them for grooming, esp when nail cutting. It's not my guys' fav thing ![]()
