| ![]() Lola Amor was rescued from a hoarding/breeding situation here in Oregon. She was one of over 250 animals rescued from that awful place. She had been caged up along with so many other doggies that were used for breeding. Sadly there were some females in such awful conditions that they had to be put down. There were some missing all there teeth, blind and deaf because of ear infections that had gone un treated for years. She has lived in a cage for years and is just getting used to freedom. I have never owned a small breed dog before, and even my little Boston was half pitbull terrier so she was 18lbs and stocky my other two boys were American Pitbull terriers and just absolute couch potatoes and love bugs. They were big boys though and could handle themselves pretty well at the park with all the other big guys. After my Shinobi passed away I received a call, asking if I could foster a little Yorkie, when I saw her and read her story I fell in love. needles to say she is laying next to me now in her plush little bed and will not be going anywhere I love her. I just want to know more about her. I have done a lot of reading on the breed but would love to hear from other Yorkie owners, any advice is welcome. She is doing ok with people and other dogs, she gets shy sometimes and hides in corners. She also wont eat outside her crate, I think she is so used to being locked up in one it feels strange to eat outside of it. Her ear infections have been taken care of by the vet and all the matted mess of her hair has been cut off. So I was wondering how long it will take for her hair to grow? I know this was so much to read but I hope to get some advice ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Oh bless you for taking her in. How horrible their lives must have been. Now she's in a safe place but it will take her time to adjust. I work with rescue horses and many come from equally horrible situations and they too have trust issues like your little one. Just give her time and let her adjust on her own. Don't force her but let her know you are someone she can trust. I don't know about her coat growing. Perhaps because of her poor diet and unsanitary conditions her coat might take a bit longer than usual to grow out but I'm sure she'll be beautiful anyway. Please keep us posted on her progress. Does she have a name?

| ![]() What a lucky little one to have a new home and a new life with you. Yorkies are wonderful little dogs and I'm sure she will blossom into a beautiful, happy girl under your care.

| ![]() I don't have much advice except to ask any questions you have as they come up and read the stickies around the forums. There is one especially for rehabbing rescues. What I do have is admiration and thanks to YOU for taking in and loving this little gal. I am just so saddened at how horrible people of this world can be to animals. And, I am so elated that there are just as many nice, caring, and loving people in this world. Welcome to YT!

| ![]() This link will give you some excellent advice. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...nt-advice.html My Brandi was rescued from a byb. While the conditions she came from were pretty bad, it wasn't as bad as the environment you have described. I used some of the advice from this link to help with Brandi.,....and boy did they worked. I watched a submissive, skittish yorkie who was afraid of everything blossom into a full blown diva who now thinks she can boss the cat around. ![]() Good luck with your little one |

| ![]() That poor little girl! This is the reason I oppose people who think it is alright to buy puppies from pet stores, brokers, puppy mills, and backyard breeders. The abuse of the breeding dogs is just beyond what most people can imagine. All I can say is take it very slowly with this little girl. How old is she? Some that have not been confined for many years can adjust some what better than others. Don't expose her to too many situations that could stress her at once. As she adjusts to one situation then slowly expose her to new things but don't rush things. Thank you for taking her in. Patience and love will bring her around. |
