![]() Ummm my cutest pup in the world bit me last night during grooming. Several times. At first he would just bite the comb and brush and I thought it was kinda cute but always said a quick "no!" And I admit I haven't groomed him except after a bath. Advice on how to handle this? My last yorkie never ever bit me, so I was surprised. Pluto has a little bit of spit fire in him. He growled at the vets when they took his temp. ![]()

| ![]() Jimmy did this for a bit. I would say no and keep going. If he insisted I put him in the pen and then took him out again and started brushing....repeat....then, he finally stopped doing it. Now he just sits there and lets me brush. He only whips his head around if I hit a snag near his belly.

![]() Sorry can't help you with this, neither of my girls have nipped at me during grooming. All I can say is "ouchy!" Hope someone here can give you more input.

![]() It is really important to groom everyday. Everyday if they need it or not. They have to get into the routine of having it done daily and they will submit to it. Grooming when the fur is tangle free shows the dog that grooming can be a fun experience. Maybe try one of the spray conditioners to use on the coat if it is tangled so you don't have to tug on his fur. The main thing is to do it daily. I comb Gracie twice a day. It is quick and easy. The more you handle your pup when he is young the better he will get with it. Just be really gentle and tell how good he was when you are done. Maybe throw the ball for him or do something he really likes when you are done.....if he was good. Not perfect...... just good!

It took awhile, but I just kept at it calmly and she got so she finally accepted it as part of the daily ritual. She enjoys it now. Make sure you are using a brush that feels good to her skin. Use a detangler spray if tangling is a problem. Give her lots of praise when she's doing good with it and a treat of choice when you're done. Let her know the biting is not acceptable behavior.

![]() I wanted to thank each of you for your advice. I'm happy to report that pluto will now almost fall asleep while I'm grooming him and I think he might secretly like it. The trick as mentioned by all of you was daily grooming. I find it to be an extra special time at the end of the day. Thank you.
