| ![]() Hi, I'm about to get a yorkie puppy in about 4 weeks and am researching foods. So far i am trying to decide between Eukanuba puppy food for small breeds, or Royal Canin mini puppy 33 food. Does anyone have an opinion as to which one would be better? Advice would be greatly appriciated

| ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THE DOG FOOD PROJECT The Dog Food Project - Identifying better products and Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble I have no experience with Eukanuba but did use RC for Yorkies for about three months. My girl liked it but she started scratching a lot and licking her paws, signs of food alergies. So now I am using California Natural limited ingredient. Many, Vivian this is you, have talked me into feeding raw as well. I will start Maddie on this in a few days in the evenings, and keep kibble in the morning. GOOD LUCK!! |

| ![]() Amanda is right...both those foods have some suspicious ingredients in them which an cause allergies and itching and are not top notch foods. Some top quality foods include: Wellness, Innova (my personal favorite, The Healthiest Pet Foods in the World – Natural & Organic Pet Food – Natura Pet Products), Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Artemis, Fromm, Nature's Variety, Blue Buffalo. AMANDA!!!! YAYYYYYYYY for RAW! Thanks for the shout out girl!!! Good luck to you, and great job asking questions, we have all learned so much fromt his site and remember, every pup is different, feed what YOU feel is best for your pup!! Smiles!!!!

I would advise to check out different brands of puppy food and start looking into ingredients and the product's nutritional analysis. *I* personally would not choose either food, but so long as you are informed and feel it's the best decision for *you* it's a great choice. Good luck on your new little girl!! Quote:
I would assume there is something irritating your kiddo. Dust, pollen, fleas, detergents, shampoos, etc can all be culprits. Good luck!

![]() Ryder has sensitive skin and I use a fatty acid soap/detergent-free shampoo that really does well for him. If she has gotten over the rash, I would chuch that shampoo. Look for something soap-free and gentle, also avoid harsh fragrances. ![]()

Thanks. She still has the little rash. Maybe I can just use that shampoo for her belly and use something more gentle for the rest of her.

| ![]() Everyone is going to have a different opinion, as someone mentioned. Try whatever food and see how it goes. This is what I did, but in time my Yorkie got picky and would sniff and literally walk away. I went thru 8+ foods...from "Feeder's Supply" (local pet store) to "Kroger's (grocery), and then to "Petsmart" where I found "Royal Canine". He loves this food and has stuck with it ever since. It won't hurt to switch if you find you puppy doesn't like a food. You just have to slowly switch him otherwise, they say a dog could have stomach problems. Good Luck in your choice |

| ![]() I wouldn't choose either but if I had to pick one it would be RC. If I fed RC it may not be the one designed for Yorkies. Ellie was on an RC prescription diet for a few days and she had an obvious intolerance to it.
